What do you think of this sportcoat?

I think you should get something more like this from JC Penney. I know there are much more elegant brands out there, but they make good clothes at affordable prices. They will also tailor your clothes.

The reasons why I like it:

The silk blend is better for this time of year, especially a warm climate like Vegas.
The color has more of a Spring/Summer feel to it.
You can dress it up with dark slacks like in the picture or wear it with jeans.

As for your current look, I agree that the jacket needs to be more fitted, the sleves are too long and the shirt you are wearing with it is too severe.

Okay, so the overwhelming majority seem to think I should go with a lighter jacket with a tighter weave--Is that basically it? I'm still a little confused on the sleeve length. I've got one person telling me the sleeves are too short and two more telling me they're too long. Somebody who really knows fashion, please take a look at this second sleeve length picture, and tell me how much higher or lower the sleeves should fit.

Do you always take guns to parties?

You don't live in Texas huh?!:)

Back to the coat~:$

The jacket is to long at the sleeves, especially for a concealed carry coat.

As Master Rig said, it should 'break' 3/4's on an inch above your wrist when your arms are down, showing 1/2 an inch of shirt cuff.

Also for 'carry' reasons, you don't want something that far over your hands.

Couple other little 'hints' I've ahhhh 'learned' over the years.;)

If the jacket has the 4 matching buttons on the sleeves...remove them. they can hang things up a bit if you are reaching in a hurry.

Also, sew about 4-5 pieces of '00 buckshot' into the lower front corner of the jacket on the side the weapon is holstered.

It will keep your coat closed and the weapon covered outside in the wind, it also keeps that side of the jacket held down and conceals the 'lump' better when walking and sitting.

If you are in a hurry to unholster...
the coat actually 'swings' out of the way and clears the access better.

Also with a little practice, you can 'juke' a shoulder to get the weight moving and only use one hand to draw clean.

Errr...at least that's what I've 'heard'!

The hem should hit the wristbone. Read this.

I was always under the impression the sleeve was supposed to hang about an inch below the wrist bone. Maybe that's an outdate style like everything else I wear. ;)

That's not really a traditional look. It's what the Miami Vice wanna-be's started wearing in the early 90's at the chi-chi clubs. But if you want/need to look like a bouncer then keep the threads. Otherwise go for a modern conservatively cut suit jacket. Most good suits are fairly classic anyway.

So does anyone have any opinions on what would be a nice gray sports coat? I may run over to Brooks Brothers at lunch and see what they have.

What kind of firearm do you use to accessarize?

It depends on if it's a day event or a night event. I find this one to be a good all around choice. If I opt for the dress shirt and tie, rather than the mock turtle neck, I usually switch out the grips with the classier ivory ones. I used to go the nickel plated route, but now it seems like every guy at every party I go to has a nickel plated 1911, so it was starting to feel a little cliché. I noticed at a wedding a few months ago that a lot of guys are going with ankle holsters these days, but I just find that a bit too metro for my tastes. If I'm wearing jeans with the coat, I'll sometimes opt for the more casual revolver, but I think a semiautomatic is always called for in more formal settings.

Don't forget the bring the BBQ gun!! *Lawdog's post on BBQ guns

I was standing in front of a pair of double doors; that line is the space between them. NOW STAY FOCUSED--This is about my clothes; not my resemblance to pop icons of the '50s.

As long as you can pull all your handles, I wouldn't sweat it.

If you are going to accessorize with a firearm, basic black is the best choice IMO. It goes with everything and never goes out of style. My personal choice is Glock.

I have one good jacket, but I need at least two for the convention. Can anyone recommend a good place to shop for a quality mid-price sports coat? I don't do cheap. I'll do old but not cheap. That said, I can't afford the stuff that makes it into GQ, either, so I'm looking at probably $300-$500. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to drop the money on anything right now, but I want to at least explore some options before I head to Vegas on Saturday.

What I'm concerned about is the International Council of Shopping Centers national convention in Vegas next week.

I'm not sure which is funnier, if this is a joke or if it's serious. :S

Douva, grab Alicia and take her shopping with you, hell, she makes Jason look good.

Whoever asked it he always takes guns to parties, no, he always takes a gun EVERYWHERE!!!:DB|
