I know some russians and they all drink it like water, usually cold in a double shot glass, some sip it most do shots

I like to start my day off with a little Ray of Soulshine™!!
If a Russian was reading all this they would be disgusted

Okay, now we're getting somewhere. A double shot glass would be about three ounces? So that small bottle would have about two or three servings?
Is "doing shots" drinking it all in one gulp?

yes, though if they so a shot the dont fill it up all the way maybe half so like 1 1/2 shot, they all say the way to do it is when its ice cold, and you throw it back into the throat and swallow they dont really wash it around just straight down.
as a side note a friend from russia said when they had vodka shortages they would take what little vodka they had and soak a piece of bread with it let it sit for a while and eat the bread and it would get them really fucked up!!

Exactly...
The glasses are 'frozen' and the vodka pouring in about 3/4's to the top...about a shot and a half.
The first one is 'gulped' and the following ones are usually 'sipped'...(pinky out)

There are of course many different brands of vodka that I sampled when I was there. Some MUCH better than anything you can get state side.
All of it was probably three times a strong as what I was use to.
That's why...(I was told anyway) that you are supposed to gulp the first one...
after that, you really can't tell how good or bad the quality is!

QuoteMy Russian sister-in-law just came back from a trip to her homeland and came back bearing gifts. I'm now the proud owner of a small bottle of Vodka. It looks like it contains about a cup of liquid.
What do I do with it?I've never had Vodka before.
Whatever you do, do NOT mix it with anything. If you want to make mixed drinks, run down to the corner store, and pick up some Stoli's Gold. What brand is it? I have some Rusky Standard that I brought back from St. Petersburg that's pretty good stuff.

QuoteGood Russian vodka is meant to be drunk the way the Russians do - straight.
...and cold.
edit: 'twardo's got it right.

Toning up the nervous system, aiding in relaxation as well as soothing depression are just a few of the by-products of cardamom’s impact on the senses, according to the ancient Indian Ayurveda doctrine. Peace in ones soul and lightness of heart during the course of every-day events coupled with leisurely conversation and good company are just some of the benefits derived from the soft coolness of new Nemiroff Light Vodka. This new libation brings real style into modern life: lighting the senses and easing ones troubles.

I'm sitting on a larger bottle that was brought back from Russia for me. I haven't quite found the right occasion to drink it.
If I mix it with anything, it will be with fresh squeezed Florida orange juice. I believe that would make for some outstanding screwdrivers.

QuoteMix it with cranberry juice.
I was not as pleased with that result as I wanted to be.
I've been trying to find the perfect fruit mix for vodka. I'm still thinking a lemon/lime variation will be best.
EDIT: I can't stand that thought of washing vodka as opposed to straight gulp.
