grue 1 #1 May 7, 2006 Looks like my grandparents are goign to fly me to Florida in a couple of weeks so I can drive their car from there to here while they fly up for the summer. That of course means I'm hitting dropzones on the way back! So, assuming I basically do a "hit and run" at a bunch of DZs, making a jump and getting back on the road, where should I go? Cities I'll be going through, or near enough to detour: Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, Nashville, St Louis, Kansas City, Omaha/Lincoln. So, WHO wants to make a jump, and where?!cavete terrae. skymama 37 #10 May 7, 2006 Well, if you're going from Tampa up to Atlanta, you can take I-75 to get there. You could start at Z-hills, veer off the road a bit to hit Lake Wales and the tunnel. In Orlando, take the turnpike to get back to I-75 and head up to Thomaston. I'm not sure where The Farm or ASC are in relation to that route. Maybe someone else from that area can help you there. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Jamdiablo 0 #12 May 7, 2006 Hmm, well if you go up 75, you can get off at Cartersville, go through there to get to The Farm, then jog up the highway there to I 20 and take that back to

Icon134 0 #14 May 7, 2006 Thomaston is a hop skip and a jump west of I-75 as you're going through Macon, GA... The King air is awesome. The Farm and/or ASC are both in the same general area... and they aren't too far out of the way driving up (or down) I-75 just northwest of Atlanta.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Derekbox 0 #15 May 7, 2006 SD Atlanta is a friggin awesome DZ by the way, I love the place I commute there all the time to jump. The farm in cedartown is also a very cool place. ASC is Skyride. Derek

D'Bo I'll be flying into FL on the 15th I think, but I'm not 100% sure yet when I'll actually leave, since the grandparents want me to hang out for a few days before I go. I'll let ya know, though!cavete terrae.
Derekbox 0 #17 May 7, 2006 Have you decided on your route yet (rather which DZs you plan on hitting)?
grue 1 #18 May 7, 2006 According to Google Earth, I should take I-75 from Naples, then I-24, then I-70, then I-29. There are intermediary steps in there, but that's the gist of it. I need to think of how much time I can realistically spend behind the wheel (more in their car than mine, due to massive comfort level differences ) on any given day + jump(s), so I can figure my stopping points each night. Alternatively, I could just drive until I'm tired, and find a hotel.cavete terrae.
