Found the book really tiresome and couldn't finish it - mainly because I prefer thrillers with a kind of understated writing style and I thought the prose was just too, well, excitable. It also bugs me that really successful books like The Da Vinci Code mean that publishers suddenly flood the market with lots of other fiction with simliar titles/ themes/ cover art to try and cash in! BillyVance 34 #34 May 18, 2006 It is one of the best books I've ever read. Unfortunately, you can't cram even 50% of the story from the book into the movie and keep it a reasonable length. I'll wait until it comes out on DVD, unless a theater somewhere offers it with open captions on screen. Being deaf, that's the only reason I'll go to the movie theaters. I am a big fan of Tom Hanks and was enjoying the first 50 pages of the book but an hour ago i walked out of the movie. 2 reasons, it was the midnight screening, maybe it would have been better at an earlier time... The other reason was cause the movie was really boring, I Think it is the worst movie I have seen Tom Hanks in for a long long time. They should have a had a 'B'Grade actor playing his role as it is all it deserved. I can't wait to finish the book as the story/plot is somewhat interesting. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . skymama 37 #40 May 19, 2006 I've heard all sorts of bad reviews like that saying that the movie is really boring. I'm so disappointed! One critic on tv just said the movie never draws you in, it just keeps telling you everything instead of making it suspenseful. He said the two main characters did so many lectures that he felt like he should have been taking notes to write a paper! He also said Hanks and the French woman didn't have any chemistry, so you don't really care what happens to them. Sucks, I was SO looking forward to this movie!
