piisfish 140 #26 October 7, 2007 QuoteI got a 2004 vector 3, 04 pd reserve 01 cypess all for 2000 dollars in the year 2005. Added a viper canopy for $500 with less than 300 jumps on it and was set. 3000$ for his rig.. , cypres for half the price of it almost... a 0 jump reserve, a Sabre1 with a new lineset. Not too bad of a deal. The thing is, being in Switzerland, if you want stuff being shipped overseas, it'll cost you a shitload, specially if it has to go back and forth. MOreover many people will not sell overseas. Not the best deal ever, but not a bad one either.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
2shay 0 #27 October 7, 2007 If you are smart about it you will have it sent to you once. I sent my helmet to austrailia and was only 80-100 if I remember correctly. You are right maybe not a rip off, but once again not a "DEAL" eitherdon't try your bullshit with me!!!

You are right maybe not a rip off, but once again not a "DEAL" either and that for only a helmet!? now imagine, a helmet is maximum an lbs. a rig is easy 20lbs.. it'll cost me an arm and a leg.. and then add taxes!“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. marti 0 #29 October 8, 2007 European prices are inherently more expensive than state side. I bought my original gear from the states (I'm based in Ireland) and at the time got a reasonable bargain, but I wouldn't have bought it if someone wasn't bringing it home for me. Gear is cheap from the states unless you get stung by customs - and then the money ads up, so shipping it is not always a great option... I shipped a main canopy from Ireland to Germany and that alone cost 50euro for registered snail mail !!By European standards on the second hand market - it sounds good to me

virgin-burner 1 #31 October 8, 2007 2shay just needs to send me something cool over, mark it as "present" and send me all the paperwork on a separate letter.. because otherwise, taxes are huge for stuff from the states..“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. UDSkyJunkie 0 #32 October 9, 2007 Quote if the price is 2200 euros thats a effing rip of and I would not get a javelin and would sure as hell not get a sabre 1, 2200 Euros might be a rip-off in the US, but that's mostly because the US dollar sucks right now. I wouldn't take price advice from anyone outside the EU. Javelin is fine... a little outdated vs. the containers cited (vector, voodoo, mirage, ect), but completely safe & airworthy. Would actually be one of my first choices for a 2nd rig because so many people are (IMO) being irrational about them, so they're selling for cheapSame goes for Sabre1... I flew a Sabre 135 for years, and it was great. Still have it in my closet and intend to put it in a 2nd rig eventually. Again, so many people are down on them that there are crazy bargains out there! You may be able to find a better deal, but I'd say your rigger's/instructor's advice is more valuble than the advice of me or anyone else on DZ.com."Some people follow their dreams, others hunt them down and beat them mercilessly into submission." virgin-burner 1 #33 October 9, 2007 found another nice rig, a vector actually. but i think no main. and noticeable more expensive. i go for a testjump, think about it, and then decide.. but thanks anyway to everyone answering!“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. virgin-burner 1 #34 October 14, 2007 tested the jav this weekend, yesterday it was quite windy, so no problem there, but today.. well, no wind at all, and on the second jump of the day i had the jav again. ground came much faster than expected, flared way to high, lifted parachute even higher.. i must been about 15ft off the ground or more, so l let the flare go.. you know what comes next.. i feel a bit sore on my upper back, my chin and my chest.. well, long story short, i got up, packed again and did another jump.. nice and very soft opening on that good old sabre.. cool. in 3 out of 3. the harness fits like a glove. what should i do!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Morrison79 0 #35 October 14, 2007 If it fits good and you are comfortable with the price go for it. I have a Sabre 190 and it will smack the shit out of you from time to time but once I was shown a better way to pack it has been opening much softer. Did you have a rigger look it over? virgin-burner 1 #36 October 15, 2007 i was shown to roll not only the stabilizers, but also nose and tail very well.. the rigger said that for its age it was an ok rig. still freeflyable for at least another 100 jumps. and if treated carefully, for another 500.. price wasnt a real deal, but was fair. i think i'll just get it, put another 200 or so jumps on it, then take the cypress out and use it in a new rig. still plenty of time to hone my skills, plus the money been saved would better be invested in jump tickets..“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Morrison79 0 #37 October 15, 2007 I haven't heard of rolling the stablizers. I roll the nose 4 and 4 than took each side into the center cell. Pull the slider out far infront of the nose and roll the tail. Try to bargain with the price a little.
