they are given when the officer just wants to give someone a break

I never turned in a warning in 10 years of traffic
ours was a 2 part ticket and you gave the original to the offender and the outher copy stayed in the book
book sometimes turned in for new book I never turned in a warning book

Here's a confessional ... the only time I did not identify myself as a cop when pulled over for speeding, I got a ticket. It was on the way to the dropzone last year. I was running late for load one.

It is kinda like when you warn someone not to do something or you'll kick their ass. You havent kicked their ass et, but you will if they repete their behavior. Most often cops will give warnings because they are in a good mood, or they just don't wan to do the paperwork. They are also more likely to give someone a warning if they have a clean liscence.

That is exactly what happend to me last night Got nailed doing 49 in a 35 at 12:39am on the way home from work. Cop was totally cool, I didnt ask for the warning, as far as I was concerned I was busted. But he said since I had a clean record that he decided to give me a written warning.

I would think any type of argument would get you anywhere but deeper in SHIT! He also went on to tell me that anyone that asks for warnings he normally wont give them. But I guess I just got lucky last night.

I am a firm believer in if you get busted you get busted. He is doing his job, period. No point in me getting upset with him etc. He just decided to be a nice guy last night.

I don't know about argued... but um... this one time my dad and I got off with a verbal warning because we were rescuing my grandfather very late at night... (like 2-3 AM)

I get LOTS of warnings, but they (state police) have never mentioned seeing a previous warning in their computer when issuing me a new one. So I'm not thinking they stay in there for very long. But I'm sure it varies by state.

I've had lots of warnings. Having out of state lic/plates and my base sticker has helped me a few times. Ironically only time I got a ticket was visiting my home state.
