I'd like a favor from you folks....Please.

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. They raised 8 kids and have 18 grandchildren. They are truly the nicest people in the world.

Here's where you come in. They tend to think that skydivers have a freak streak....go figure.:P

I thought it would be cool if you folks wrote whatever you wanted to them in honor of their anniversary and I would print it out and present it to them. Granted, they may blush or think we're all sick as fuck; but it would be a lot of fun for them.

So, what do you say...would you help me out?

BTW, their names are Ed and Mary and they are 74 and 70 resepectively. They have awesome senses of humor.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Ed and Mary,

Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary. I hope the day brings joy to each of you.

Blues skies,
Max
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

CONGRATS Ed and Mary on 50 years of marriage!!!

Hopefully your son isn't cheap and will print this out in color so you can see all the hard work I put into this post...

:D:D:D:D:D:D

Whoa...hey Chris, you might wanna delete out the sig lines before handing it over to mom and pop. You said 'awesome sense of humor'. You didn't say 'demented, twisted and sick'. :|:P

Honestly, congratulations. -The hubby and I are looking forward to our 50 year. We are working on 12 right now. :)

To be blessed with 50 years of love and 8 children of happiness... What more could anyone ask?

The world stops for love, it bows down in awe of the power it holds.

To many more!

When you got married you thought it would be forever, now you know it won't. But it will be for the rest of your lives. That is a wonderful feeling.

It started with you trying to be the person you thought the other wanted you to be and survived the part where you found out who eachother really were and like that better.

Each day each minute seems like an hour, an hour seems like day and tomorrow yesterday's hours seem like minutes.

You can walk into an empty house and know it's empty before you check to see if the other is home.

You know when people say, "Wow, 50 years, that doesn't happen much any more." that they are wrong. People still meet, then find eachother, and live ever after - happily. Because the good times and the bad times together are better than any times apart.

Congratulations ! ! !

"God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."
I John 4:16

Mary and Ed, not only have you dwelled in the arms of God (and He in you), you have raised children to honor Him, to love Him, and to follow Him. How amazing and glorious are you both.

You are both wonderful examples of commitment, love, honor and respect. Anyone who can stay married for 50 years must also have a great deal of patience and humor...and for that, I think you both just rock.

"Kahlil Gibran on Love

When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant;
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, "I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips."

Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Thank you both for being who you are. Now, make Chris get better so he can come fly with me! I've been waiting a very long time...

(Mary, just a "private" note; the comments you sent over to me recently have been something I've been thinking long and hard about. I appreciate your time, and your love for a stranger has come through loud and clear. I very much appreciate you, your wisdom, and your lightheartedness. You're pretty damned cool.)

Ciels-
Michele

Dear Ed and Mary,

First of all, let me just say that I am a woman and I have to commend Mary. I've been married for almost 18 years and I'm about ready to kill my husband. So, Mary you must REALLY love Ed if you've managed to stay married for 50 years without ending up in an asylum or trying to murder him. Either you have an incredible strength or Ed is just an awesome man.

So Ed...if you are awesome man, tell me...what are you doing later??? I've heard that Mary is quite busy with all those grandchildren of yours. Maybe we could hook up : ) You've been hanging out with Mary for 50 years. Don't you think it's about time that you hook up with someone new?

I have only two children and so I'm wondering...what the hell were you two thinking? Eight kids???? You two were like bunnies : ) How long did it take before you figured out what was causing Mary to get pregnant????

Seriously, you two are simply amazing. I know personally that a successful marriage is a huge challenge. I don't think that I will make it to 20 years much less 50. So, I just wanted to say "Congratulations to you both. You are fortunate that you found each other, and managed to stick together through all the trials and tribulations that occurred over the last 50 years."

My best wishes for an awesome anniversary!

I think for your 50 year landmark you should both go do a tandem, it will be a leap of faith just like 50 years ago!!

Ed and Mary,

Congratulations! 50 yrs of wedded bliss! 8 kids! 18 grandchildren! You are truly blessed.

Your son, Chris talks so fondly of you both. You've obviously done a great job raising your family.

Whatever you're doing, you're doing it right. It isn't always easy, marriage takes work as well as love.

I agree with a poster before me, you should both go do a tandem skydive! It is a life changing experience.

Mom and Dad Muenkel,

The adventure of 50 years!! I think about the stories that you could tell around the bonfire and I bet you could even put Walt to shame with your tales of yesterday!! (Maybe you could tell one or two to us at some point!)

May today be filled with laughter, joy and pride. You deserve all that and more!!

Happy Anniversary!

Karen

sheesh... leave it to michele to write her magnum opus in the thread. ;)

Mr. & Mrs. Muenkel... Would you have done it all over again, if you knew you'd have a kid who'd turn out like Chris?

Of course you would! He's a dear friend and he brags on you both quite often. Congratulations on 50 years together and for being an inspiration to young married couples everywhere!
