pilotdave 0 #26 October 10, 2007 Yeah it could probably be better for canopies like spectres, but the loop of excess brake line is about the perfect length on my sabre2 to run down the back of the riser and come around the front for to be pinned into place. The loop is just too small to cause a problem. I must have almost 1000 jumps stowing them that way, and no problems. Course lots of people have way more jumps than that without stowing the excess at all with no issues. Dave
kallend 2,146 #27 October 11, 2007 I have tru-locks with a Spectre, and I do NOT use the pin to hold the excess line in place.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
tonyv 0 #28 October 11, 2007 Quote Or you could buy a set of our risers (shameless plug). Can you please, post a picture of your velocity risers, or whatever you're advertising:) Do they also have pinned toggles? Sergey, Sorry for taking so long to get you the pictures. Seemed like I could find the camera but not the memory stick and then the batteries were dead... Anyways, here are some pictures of how the toggles operate and the line stow. Kelly is out in the shop and asked me to post these up for you. Any questions, just let me know. -Tony (253) 445-8790 Velocity Sports Equipment
Sergey-san 0 #29 October 12, 2007 Thanks a lot, Tony! A few guys at Skydive Tecumseh in Michigan, where I jump now, have adapted Infinity risers to their Mirage and other rigs, I'll inspect them more closely this weekend. Thanks again for the pictures! Sergey.
mnskydiver688 0 #30 October 12, 2007 I was wondering why when they attach the binding tape to the riser to make the pocket for the pin, why don't they put a layer of binding tape on the riser first so the pin has binding tape on both sides? Also I rarely use the stows on the risers for excess brake line. I just double up the excess and loop it over the top of the toggle before I put the top in the keeper.Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
floormonkey 0 #31 October 13, 2007 That malfunction DID happen today. And no, the jumper is not stupid.
chutingstar 1 #32 October 15, 2007 QuoteMike Gruwell and myself found an interesting tru-lock malfunction this past weekend (when stowing the excess in the 'tru-lock' fashion described in the manual). We took pictures and I believe his is going to both bring this to UPT's attention and post an article on his rant and rave. I really like my UPT risers (I have the Louis loops) but I don't stow the excess line like the manual describes on page 53 Ian Here is a link to the photos that have already been sent to UPT: http://www.chutingstar.com/archives/00000131.html MikeChutingStar.com
