SarahC07 0 #3 May 20, 2006 I read the first half of the book many months ago... got too busy and never finished it. I'd be interested to hear why people didn't like it...

SarahC07 0 #5 May 20, 2006 Maybe, but I mean as far as I could tell in the first half, the movie followed the book. I suppose the way I expected the movie to be (because of the book) was different... but still... it's a good movie.

SarahC07 0 #7 May 20, 2006 It's all cool. I'd like to hear some negative reviews from people who actually saw it (other than paid critics) .... so go see it and report back
kbordson 8 #8 May 20, 2006 I liked it. But many in the theater left with kinda confused comments. I think it really helped having read the book first. Simple plot, but a little intrigue. All in all.... worth the money to piss off the self-rightous standing in front of the cinema to protest it.
SarahC07 0 #9 May 20, 2006 Yeah, you really have to pay attention or you'll miss something. I think seeing it again would help clarify a few minor details...

KrisFlyZ 0 #16 May 20, 2006 If you read the book you will feel let down. The french actress that played Sophie is hot IMO so it was not a total waste and can be entertaining if you have not read the book or switch off critic mode. I even read the book a second time in preparation for watching the movie on the very first show. Kris.
windcatcher 0 #17 May 20, 2006 Could you please explain to me why you think people who protest something are being "self-righteous?" Anyone that protests is self-righteous, or just the "religious folk?" Anyway, SarahC, I will have to discredit this thread as Chris started the first thread after seeing the movie and he said it sucked. Mother to the cutest little thing in the world... Katherine 0 #19 May 20, 2006 Yes it was. I just saw it tonight and apart from the length it was really enjoyable, even with having read the book. jtval 0 #21 May 21, 2006 saw it and read the book. If ANYONE was expecting the movie to be as good as the book then apparently this is your first tiem in a theatre. the movie was good but I'm not sure It would be as interesting if I hadn't read the book. theres ALOT of back story and little things that they had to leave out. somethings just don't work well in movies that work well in books. anyway, I liked it some minor things were changed to make the movie "work" but alot of it was directly taken from the book.My photos My Videos

Apollinaire 0 #23 May 21, 2006 Read the book and I loved it! My husband didn't read the book and he enjoyed it very much! I think the critics were just lying in wait to rip this one up just for fun. They were just in the mood to be pissy I think.

Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but there were protestors, with signs, outside our theater as well. Seemed rather pathetic. I enjoyed the movie as well. Actually, I had listened to the book on tape last year and was eagerly awaiting this movie. It lived up to what I had hoped it could be. An intrigue that flushed out the color of what I had heard the reader speak on the CD. I'm glad that I had 'read' the book beforehand. It allowed a following of the plot without being left out and a bit lost (like I think other movie-goers may have been). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
GARYC24 3 #25 May 22, 2006 I saw this movie yesterday. Did not read the book. My church is having a 4 week study regarding the DaVinci Code. Actually, I nodded off during the first part of the movie, a friend of mine hit me and she said I was snoring. It was an okay movie. I'm glad she paid for the show, I had a small soda, small popcorn and a Nathan's hotdog. I have no desire to go out and buy the book.
