Fundraising

Recommended Posts

I am currently taking a class at my college that requires me to raise 7,000 dollars for a project that we are assigned as a group. My group is called, "The Sky's the Limit" and we need to raise this money to give to local vet's to help offset the costs for people to have their dog or cat neutered. We have 7 weeks to raise this money and work as a team.

Does anyone have any fundraising ideas? I was thinking about giving massages at local boogies and putting all of the money I earn from that towards our cause. We're ruling out car washes, because we feel we won't make enough for the amount of work we put into it.

So any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated!!

Thanks!! :o)

The massages are a fantastic idea at a boogie. We had Rita giving rubs at Tunnel For The Cause and she was kind enough to donate half the profits. It raised us a good amount of money we might have missed out on.

If anyone else in your group has a talent like massage, get them to the dz also and see if you can stir up some need for their services. I have a friend who does those cartoon drawings of people (I can't spell characture, or whatever :D) and she is going to lend her services this year at TFTC. Something like that might be fun so people can get pics w. their gear, colors, etc.

RAFFLE!!!!! Always easy to get gift certs. from restaurants, putt-putt, movie theaters, movie rental places, etc.

I wouldn't rule out car washes, in college we made almost $700 from 10am -3pm.

I think it's really awesome what your group is going to do. I'm doing Tunnel 4 Paws which will be raising thousands for a new not for profit Spay The Strays. Anita runs the business on her own personal $. She was kind enough to come take care of the tunnel kitties so we wanted to do some fun flying, cat addoptions, and fundraising for her. It should be a great time. If you are out in the Orlando area June 23rd and 24th, come check it out, even better...come fly!

Paige@TunnelPinkMafia.com me if I can be of any help. With group members $7000 shouldn't be so terrible. GOOD LUCK and let me know how it goes. I'll be cheering for you.

you might want to consider contacting some local businesses.......see if they will donate money.....and then let them know that when your goal is met....you will take out a small ad in the local newspaper acknowledging the local businesses that helped out your cause......any "free" advertising looks good for them and an ad would not cost that much.....as long as it is not a full page ad.....and not in color....you are looking at maybe 100 dollars....it might be worth it.

Also try contacting outback steakhouse....they do alot for local charites, events etc.....they love to get their name out there!!!!! Especially in the florida market....try going to their website and send an email about your cause.

hugs!!!!!

OMG - $7k?? And you have to work as a team?! This is like an episode of The Apprentice!!

I have no single idea for all that cash, but I was thinking if you could get some sponsorships from some pet supply stores - contact as many businesses as you can, of any kind, for sponsorships $100,200 and up and mayby put together one of those coupon type books or advertising books where the businesses pay $100 to advertise in it (but you know it only costs you 20 cents to put them in there, find a way to print the books so the cost is low, obviously and keep the differnce); recipe books - my mom is always a sucker for those! People contribute their favorite recipes, you print them up cheap and you put some cutesy tie-in name on the front...although one that ties in w/spaying and neutering fails to come to mind just now!

Teams that sell candy at traffic lights - I'm always buying M&M's from people.

I'm tapped out now...good luck!

On an episode of The Apprentice, they did do a challenge where the teams had to do something involved with pets. I think one of the teams did a dog wash, or something like that.

Father's Day is coming up. What about some kid of raffle for that? Could you get Lake Wales to donate a tandem jump?

As someone else said, don't rule out car washes. My son's soccer team does a few every year for their expenses. Last season, they made about $3000.

We have done pretty well at the Dublin Boogie the past couple years. This past year the Theme was "Jump for the Paws" and we raised money for the local animal shelter.

The Charity Poker Tournaments we run have done very well as well.
Also they have done Raffles for Discounts on Gear donated by various Gear Manufacturers, Sold Jell-O Shots, Brought out an old beater and charged people to Bash the car.

Last year there was Dunking Booth too.
Cute Women (And maybe some men too) in White tee shirts in a Dunking booth will certainly raise some money.
