lawrocket 3 #1 May 24, 2006 It's time to get a new keg. May has been nice, with good weather, fun guests, and No-Alcohol April far behind me. I'm leaving my next keg up to popular choice. My personal standard is Firestone Double Barrel Ale. All of the above are 1/6 barrel kegs, except the Bud/Coors Lite/MGD, which are 1/4 barrel kegs. I don't do full kegs in my appliance. Slappie 9 #4 May 24, 2006 I voted the New Belgium Fat Tire Abbey with an exception. You should see if you can find a keg of New Belgium Abbey. I'm diggin that stuff BIG TIME right now. Chimay is much better, but Abbey isn't far behind in taste and texture. lawrocket 3 #5 May 24, 2006 They don't have the Abbey. In fact, I can't even get their 1554 Black Ale here anymore. I'll admit, the Abbey is dern good, and also agree that it is no Chimay. My wife is hotter than your wife.
Lindercles 0 #6 May 24, 2006 I was just about to suggest the 1554, then I saw that you already had. I haven't looked for it here in a while, but if it's not available anymore, that would suck a lot. Thanks for the Shiner, though, I just might take you up on that.
lawrocket 3 #7 May 24, 2006 They lmit their distribution. Round here, you aren't gonna find a lot of people that go for that dark beer. You can find them in Sacrametno or the Bay Area, so they'll distribute it there. Much of distribution has to do with the local sense of things. Edited to ass: Note as well that these kegs are the only ones I can get here that fit my criteria. Anything available in only 1/2 barrel is off the list, as are things like Boddington's and Guiness that require a nitrogenation system that my kegerator lacks. I'm also not putting stuff on there that I already know I hate like Fosters or Gordon Biersch Marzen, though I included the Piss-Colored Waters at the end for the hell of it. Lindercles 0 #9 May 24, 2006 Well, if that's not reason to move, I don't know what is. Although I suppose Karate Kid being from your town is a pretty strong draw. Thankfully there are a handful of stores around Austin that have a pretty large selection, including a lot of the darker stuff I like so much.

lawrocket 3 #11 May 24, 2006 QuoteYou need a choice for other: Hoegaarden I've love that, or a Wittekerke. But, I can't get kegs of it. They also require a special keg tap that doesn't work with what is standard here in the US. My wife is hotter than your wife.
