waltappel 1 #51 May 24, 2006 QuoteQuoteI've actually seen something like that done. A woman poured a large Coke over a guy's head. I was sitting across the table from him and thought it was really funny because he deserved it. but i have also stood two feet from a guy in a bar that got a bottle smashed over his head by another guy. what does that mean? i think men resort to violence much quicker than women. i agree on the socially acceptable side, but violence is violence. come to think of it though, about 8 years ago i was in a bar minding my own business talking to some friends, when a girl came up to me out of nowhere and threw her drink on me. she thought i was hitting on her boyfriend. she had the wrong girl because i was entirely confused by the situation. guess this stuff goes both ways. Notice the common denominator was that they both happened in a bar? Normal rules don't apply there. Walt

rehmwa 2 #53 May 24, 2006 QuoteThat was exactly his point and I think he's right on the money, but I don't think we're born to follow that pattern. I think we are taught it. Taught, yes but I wouldn't take out selective evolution and how it also affects our attitudes - some breeding would seem to make sense in how we've obtained our biases. IMO But who's to say that evolution has engendered in us a need to "teach" this behavior. It's usually a little bit from column A and column B both. Never one or the other entirely.. As for column "C" - environment. ref The other posts about stuff happening in bars. I think environment might be the MOST powerful input to behavior than any other (training/upbringing, instinct, etc) ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
happythoughts 0 #54 May 24, 2006 QuoteActually, I think everyone has an instinct to protect women - both men and other women alike. Not divorced guys. "She kind of reminds me of my ex sister-in-law, could you kick her in the butt once ?"
windcatcher 0 #55 May 24, 2006 In this day and age, it seems women are the "superior gender." The number of television shows where the husband/father is a bumbling idiot who always makes mistakes far outnumber the shows where the woman is like that. Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

That started at the beginning of the Disney movies. The fathers were idiots. The mothers were caring, but confused and overwhelmed. The kids and their dog would save the city from Nazi spies. misskriss 0 #57 May 25, 2006 QuoteThat started at the beginning of the Disney movies. See... When I think of Disney movies I wonder where the mama is. The Little Mermaid??? Where's her mama? Aladdin? Where is Jasmine's mama? Cinderella had a dead mother and an evil stepmother as did Snow White. Beauty and the Beast-- no mama. Let's not forget Bambi's mama---shot dead and in Finding Nemo wasn't the mama eaten by another fish??

JohnMitchell 16 #59 May 25, 2006 When you're a guy it takes you longer to get your car ready for a hot date than it does to get yourself ready. As far as comedy, I think white male heads of households are the last politically correct target of jokes. Every other type of human being is off limits, lest some group somewhere might be offended. happythoughts 0 #61 May 25, 2006 The purpose of Disney movies is to empower kids. To make them feel like they could go anywhere and accomplish anything. This is especially evident in movies where kids have some type of super power. The oddest social dynamic is tv. The guys are usually pot-bellied clods who bumble from one mess to the other. At the same time, they are married to a hottie who adores/tolerates/berates them. (Example - King of Queens). The anomaly was Friends. They were all as dumb as a box of hammers. sartre 0 #73 May 25, 2006 QuoteI am contiually blown away at my wife's ability to take care of herself while also taking care of me, our son, a dog, and an entire house. Don't get me wrong, I think she will also say that I do the same, but certainly not to the extent that she does. I actually think the house would burn down if it wasn't for her. She is absolutely amazing at caring for our family and home and does so many things that keep our lives running smooth. I think if men had to multi-task the way women do in a household, the world would collapse on itself. PLEASE make sure you make her aware of your appreciation for her often!!!! It's taken for granted (or not noticed) by too many husbands.

udder 0 #75 May 25, 2006 There is no longer a reason to take any shit from a woman. Thats what the pimp slap was invented for. That way you can beat your wife/girlfriend/friend/stranger while still looking stylish and retaining a sense of self respect and dignity. Just wear baggy clothing and a gold chain before commencing your beating. What do you tell a woman with two black eyes? Nothing. You already told her twice."In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." Eazy-E
