Men vs. Women - A serious thread.

Okay, everyday on dz.com we reestablish that men and women are very different physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc. There are endless jokes by men about women, and vise versa. I am one of the first to agree that there are major differences, and that they help keep life interesting.

Out of curiosity, what do you think are some of the fundamental differences and why?

Women place a much higher value on the "nesting" items (house, clothes, etc...) than men do.

Women read into things that men don't even think of.

Those are the two main differences I see.

Actually, I think everyone has an instinct to protect women - both men and other women alike.

I hate generalizations about any Race or Sex. There are always so many exceptions to every rule.

Every individual person s different.

But with that disclaimer out of the way.. Some basic differences:

1. Men are Stronger. Physically. Stronger Bone Structure, Generally more Muscle mass.

2. Women are more emotional. Partially due sociological reasons and possibly due Fluctuating hormone levels.

3. Women are more focused on Finding a Mate. Due to sociological reason primarily. Also could be due to biological clock if she wishes to have children. Men can father children well into their 60`s. For Women, it is not generally a good idea to bear Children past their 40`s.

4. Women are prettier and much more fun to snuggle up too!!

Men are better at focusing.

Women are better at multi-tasking.

These have biological reasons.

I think a fundamental difference is that women are intellectually and emotionally stronger than men. This actually gives the perception that men are stronger, which is counterintuitive, but allow me to explain.

Men don't like problems. They have two courses of action - either run from a problem or solve it. If the guy can't solve the problem, expect the guy to run. This is because of the weakness - they can't handle a problem.

Women CAN handle problems and hardships. Sure, women are more apt to complain, but they can handle it, which is why they prefer to "vent" as oppose to "solve." But women do not run away from problems.

I cite childrearing as an example. Why are women the ones who get pregnant, give birth, etc? Simple - a guy couldn't handle it. Tell a guy to carry a medicine ball on his belly and then pee out a golf ball and love the thing to death that caused the guy to feel that way. A guy can't even handle a digital exam at his yearly physical - if he has a yearly physical, which he won't, because he's afraid to be told he might be sick.

Rarely is th case of a mother who isn't on drugs willingly leaving the child behind. They do not do that. Guys? Jeez, that could be some trouble and discomfort. I'm ditching her and the baby.

Another example? Women live longer. The reason is that women can handle life far better than a guy can. They can live through more. Sure, women are more full of self-doubt, but that's because they are more self-aware.

Guys let things slide easier. Because a guy is too weak to allow himself to face the full brunt of pain. Women don't let stuff slide, because, again counterintuitively, they can handle it. Women dwell on it and think about it. It's called "coping." Men don't cope with things very well, so they are more prone to numb themselves to pain, discomfort, etc.

Given my line of work, my opinion of men in general has taken a nose dive. The majority of the time, it is the women who are stronger and the better people. When the man is the better person than the woman, it's usually because the woman is on drugs. When both have been on drugs, it's usually the woman who cleans up before the guy does, because she's usually the one strong enough to do it.

Guys complain about women and the way they vent without solving, seem caught constantly in drama, etc. Guys "can't handle" the drama. Guess what, guys? Women CAN handle the drama. Why? They're stronger. We as men are weaklings compared to women.

Give me some evidence to change my mind.

I don't really have anything valuable to contribute. However, after almost 18 years of marriage, I can say that I think that men are not as emotionally attached as women.

Our way of viewing and dealing with our relationships (friends, spouses, and children, etc.) is completely different.

I enjoy a good round of stereotyping, so here goes:

Women are more monogamous than men.

Women tend to be more detail-oriented.

Women tend to be very primal in their drive to protect their children. The ones who want children tend to seek men who are aggressive and violent, yet capable of being manipulated by women (specifically her), so they can get protection for their offspring.

Women like men with money, but for some of the women wanting children, the aggressive, violent guy seems to be a better choice.

Women have a far more developed sense of smell. They can smell another woman's scent on their man from across the room.

Okay....history lesson~

It's not that men 'can't handle' the drama thing...

It's just a matter of priorities, it's a survival thing ingrained in us from back in the caveman days.

Men went out to hunt the animals for meat.

This took thought, planning and a huge set of balls.

The idea was to remain VERY QUIET and slowly sneak up on the 'hamburger on the hoof'...and then spring into action.

Women on the other hand were cave cleaners and berry gatherers, very 'social' activities.... they went out in a large group and did everything they could to create enough noise to keep the animals AWAY.

Talking loudly and endlessly was the easiest and most convenient method.

If ya couldn't keep up the endless jabbering, ya got eaten...as a matter of natural selection, the bitchy women survived.

Hence the 21st century dilemma we men now face.

It's just the nature of a women to 'blah...blah..blah' about every little thing...

We as men just stand there in total awe, just waiting for the dinosaurs to come running up...attracted by all the noise.... and bite our heads off...!

Women are allowed to physically assault men when the man has pissed them off. A man will be arrested and viewed as scum if he hits a woman, yet you can see women hitting men on about every tv show there is from time to time, in tons of movies, and even on commercials, often being viewed as humor. Also, a woman hitting a man is widely viewed as an acceptable response to many situations.

I just never understood that one.
