My boyfriend will be in Germany for 19 days and has tickets so far to 7 games. So, he's really into it, but then again he's English and is also a soccer player/coach. I wasn't invited to go with him. The British (and others) can get quite rowdy, Andrea. I've been to World Cup games, when they were held here, and it's amazing how involved some fans are. lawrocket 3 #12 May 24, 2006 Well, I like th US chances, what with our team captain going down yesterday with a strained hammy in our warmup game loss against the perennial powerhouse that is Morocco. My wife is hotter than your wife.

There's plenty of support at the grass roots (The term "soccer mom" didn't come from out of nowhere.), and from some big advertisers (My favorite new Nike commercial shows great futbol moments with "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" playing in the background.) There would be more support from the fatass Budweiser dribbling sofa jockeys if it weren't for a**hole sports commentators picking on the sport just because they think it makes them funny. The real USA fans just want to see them do well enough to shove the credibility in everyone's face. I just hope I live long enough to hear people on ESPN pretend they "always secretly kinda liked soccer."OrFunV/LocoBoca Rodriguez/Sonic Grieco/Muff Brother #4411 -"and ladies....messin with Robbie is venturing into territory you cant even imagine!-cuz Robbie is

skymama 37 #16 May 24, 2006 QuoteWhy not? Is he going with his Brit friends? He's going with 2 of his friends from here that he went to the last WC with. He says since the plans were made with them 4 years ago (before we met) that he doesn't have to feel guilty about not inviting me or about how much money he is spending on this trip. It's ok...I don't have $5000 to spend on a trip like that and I really only like watching soccer when my son is playing! He will have to make it up to me for being gone on my birthday though. My kids are going to keep me company, we're going to go swim with dolphins in the Keys. Fortunately, even ESPN aren't stupid enough to cut out in the middle of a match. FROM ESPN.COM: ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Sports, will present live coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Friday, June 9 through Sunday, July 9 from Germany. ESPN2 and ESPN will combine to present 52 matches - 31 on ESPN2 and 21 on ESPN. ABC Sports will broadcast 12 matches including the title match Sunday, July 9 at 1:30 p.m. ET from Berlin's Olympiastadion (preceded by a 30-minute pre-game show at 1 p.m.). ALL MATCHES IN HD For the first time, all 64 FIFA World Cup matches will be available in high definition on ESPN HD, ABC HD and ESPN2 HD. The high definition telecasts will be offered as a simulcast of ESPN, ABC Sports and ESPN2's World Cup coverage. WORLD CUP LIVE During the World Cup, ESPN and ESPN2 will present World Cup Live - the daily news, highlights and analysis studio show for the quadrennial event. UNINTERRUPTED COVERAGE To ensure uninterrupted coverage of the matches, the networks will not air commercials during the two 45-minute halves, similar to the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups and the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women's World Cups. Commercials will be aired during the pre-match, halftime and post-match segments. Additionally, the telecasts will feature the continuous score and clock ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Sports first introduced on American television during the 1994 FIFA World Cup. They're also in real time.
