SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 May 27, 2006 What a fucking horrendous afternoon....Went swimming with the kids, discovered I had a flat...my SO was in the area so he swung by to put some air in it as the nail was still in the tire....he would follow me home and make sure I didn't have any problems....while traveling done a busy minor highway at somewhat "rush hour" on a friday before a major holiday...a man, who I thought was walking a dog was up ahead....cool no problem...until right before I go to pass said man and dog the dog darts out in front of my freaking truck...I know, I know...you shouldn't brake for animals, swerve, etc....well I didn't break, I laid off the gas...traveling about 35-40 mph and yep, you guessed I swerved...couldn't help it, I saw the whites of his eyes....he jumped in front just as I was passing...I was shocked 'cause I thought the dog was on a leash...thats why I believed I swerved...just stunned...well anywho...I didn't hit anyone when I swerved, but looking in my rear view mirror, I saw my SO swerve to miss the car in front of him...it was me in my truck, a car, my SO in his 8000lb step van, and a car behind him...he clips the car in front of him...no major damage, cracked rear drivers light (hunk of junk car)...but the woman in the SUV behind my SO got it good...though, luckily...she was able to drive away, and her air bag did not deploy...thank GOD! No one got any tickets...cops said it was an accident, EVERYONE told the cop they saw the dog too.... So there ya go...I won't live this one down...though if he brings it up...I can always throw in his face that he bought a dirt bike that didn't run and still doesn't. I know that as soon as I close my eyes to sleep tonight, this day will be over and tomorrow is a new day...THANK GOD!!!! BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. PLFXpert 0 #10 May 27, 2006 I would have swerved, too. And no tickets were cited, likely b/c if anyone had been following actual traffic rules of required distance between cars than no-one would have hit anyone. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
SkydiveStMarys 0 #11 May 27, 2006 The cars behind me swerved into other lanes to miss hitting the people in front of them. Basically Bob swerved to miss the car in front of him because had he hit the car in front of him with his huge step van, it would have pushed that car into me. But, yes...there were NO tickets issued do to the fact that it truly was an "accident". BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
