kinginCrisis 0 #1 September 25, 2007 Hi, i'm looking for a hrness to connect my parachute to, but I don't need the container. I've seen what I want but does anyone, 1. Know what i'm talking about. 2. Know where I can get one in the UK. Sorry about the lack of info here. Cheers
skyninja 0 #2 September 25, 2007 Buy a cheap harness/container, then cut out the pack trays with a steak knife.... Why don't you just play 'chicken' on the railroad tracks? It would be a cheaper way to toy with death, I'm sure. CWR #2 - "You SAID collision!"
councilman24 37 #3 September 25, 2007 Many things you might want to do with this are not safe without proper instruction and equipment. Ground launch, base launch, parasailing. Harnesses for these activities are unique. Let us know what you want to do. Or do the above.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

AggieDave 6 #5 September 25, 2007 There are ground launching harnesses made to order, same with the canopies; HOWEVER, ground launching is something that even someone with thousands of jumps can easily shatter femurs and pelvises without some training. Ask the pioneers of ground launching with skydiving equipment. Hell, e-mail Jim (Lord) Slaton and ask him. He just recently recovered from a very serious ground launching accident. Go get experience and training then try. If you don't believe me now you'll understand when you get more experience.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." ficus 0 #7 September 25, 2007 I bought an old velcro BASE rig for ground launching. Make a replacement shrivel flap that is much wider than the original one and you even have a nice little stash bag.
yoink 321 #8 September 25, 2007 Hurrah! More UK ground launch folks! Welcome! There are GL specific harnesses out there that tend to have more of a seated position and a lower attachment point than skydive style harnesses. I believe UK airsports carries some of those. The only GL specific skydive style harness I know of is the Blade by Aeros. You don't mention your experience - GL isn't something just to jump into - we've already had one very serious accident here that has resulted in permanent life-changing injuries. No more please, and be really careful about site selection. alexey 6 #9 September 26, 2007 Actually, Aeros do not manufacture Blade - they outsource it, and sell SWS rigs (GLS Blade in that case) under their name with their Ballistic canopy.Lexa
