riggerrob 643 #3 September 22, 2007 PD Sabre was introduced in 1989. Sabre was the first - or second - American-made canopy with (silicone-coated) zero porosity fabric.

Not to sure about the 1999 date. I have a '95 and know of earlier fabbed S1.50 donations so far. Give it a try. councilman24 37 #6 September 22, 2007 From the PD website. "In 1989, after four years in development, the original Sabre was born utilizing the capabilities of the new zero porosity fabric. The Sabre’s advanced design combined with the new fabric technology was a perfect match made for the sky, and remained the benchmark for canopy performance for over a decade." The first ParaGear catalog with Sabre and Stelleto was #58, 1993-1994. A 1991 Sabre may have substantially weakened fabric. Many from that era have had to have panels replaced. And certainly the number of jumps on the lines is an issue. Rob ment 1989, but he's getting old. hee, hee, hee!And he changed it while I was typing. I'm old for my age. kinginCrisis 0 #9 September 23, 2007 So would a PD Sabre be good for ground launching. It's a 150 and I weigh 143 ponds so its a wingloading of 1 with clothes and harness. Cheers for any help. Also, does anyone have any spec info on this canopy. I can only find Sabre 2 info. I'm talking glide ratio, pack volume, all the little stuff.
hjumper33 0 #10 September 24, 2007 Depends where you are ground launching and what your goals are. Sabres are good canopies to launch as long as its in decent shape. At that wingloading, you might get dragged around in high winds and it will float around a bit, but I know several people that launch early sabres and like them just fine. kinginCrisis 0 #11 September 24, 2007 Ahh ok, cheers mate. Anyone got any specs on a Sabre 1?
Elisha 1 #12 September 25, 2007 For 90 jumps, I jumped a Sabre1-150, Mfg 3/91. I sold it a month ago and it is currently in use. It has probably ~1000 or so jumps on it - fine jumping condition. Probably 2nd or 3rd lineset (trim isn't too bad according to Bonnie around 50 jumps ago). Take care of it and it will last.
