trappin beaver can be hazadous to your health!
sometimes they get angry and bite or slap you with their tails.
Its best you trap em in a cage, then calm them somehow. Remember you can never tame a beaver, they're always wild. Its best if you stay on top of a beaver, cuz if a beaver gets on top of you... well you could be fucked.

If you should happen to trap a hairless beaver these are most prized! You should decid quickly weather to profit from such a prize or keep it for yourself.
CAUTION: some hairless beavers can get furry at times, this is only a phase, do not attempt to prematurely remove excess beaver hair. The beaver will be angered and may not let you near it for some time.

Is it true then that they get REALLY cranky when the hair starts coming back in?:o

Is there a reason for this...??:)

Come to think of it, I've seen some pretty cranky HAIRY beavers too...[:/]

glad you asked.
Hairless beavers are angered by returning hair. Hairless beavers a keen on their appearance, and returning hair can have quite an affect on appearance, so therefore beavers are angered. Also the returning hair feels much like a brillo pad. No one really wished to hold a brillo pad, so no one wants to hold a beaver is such a state, much less pet the beaver! :o This also angers the beaver, as they love attention.

Hairy beavers get cranky for a whole other reason. Lots of hair requires lots of care time, leaving little for fun and games. Believe it or not beavers are a jolly lot, wanting nothing more than to play with wood and eat fish. so high maintenance hair, cuts into play time. thusly causing cranky beaver syndrome.

So....

What you are saying is that at some time or another....for one REASON or another...
:|

ALL beavers are gonna get cranky.:S

It would seem that in order to avoid being near a crank beaver, be it a hairless on or not...one should actually keep SEVERAL beavers as pets, and only handle the 'un-cranky' ones??:o

WOAH! slow down there champ. Keeping more than one beaver at any one time can be hazardous to your health!
there are two schools of though for the caring of multiple beavers.
1. keep them in the dark. never under any circumstances let one beaver find out about the other. If this should happen, the chances are large that BOTH beavers will be furious! Then you must now deal with two angry beavers.
2. if you feel that the beavers will coexsist. you must gently test the waters to find out if this is true.
CAUTION: if at any time it appears the beaver 1 will not coexsist with beaver 2 deny all knowledge of the other beaver.
While this is rare, it is possible for two beavers to share one wood. This is a highly saught after scenario, and the reward can outweight the risk.

You would think that if there was plenty of wood, the beavers wouldn't mind sharing!

I read somewhere once that as beavers get older, they spend more of their time gathering trinkets, what they think of as 'treasure' ...instead of paying attention to the wood that they should be chewing...

Is there a reason for this??:)

yes. as beavers age... so ages the wood.
and after being around for so long the wood looses its youthful appearance and energy. the wood often times becomes unresponsive to the needs of beaver.
If this happens BEWARE! The beaver my seek out a younger wood that is hearty and strong. This is known as wandering beaver, and can usually be prevented by paying proper attention to beaver.

this wandering beaver have no wood to chew, finds other things to entertain itself. the "trinkets" and "treasure" are used by the beaver to fill the "void" previously left by wood.

Been there. I had a pretty bad stretch of killing animals inadvertently with my vehicles. The count was something like 5 birds, 3 dogs and 2 squirrels in 6 months. There was also a near-miss with a deer, which of course I had to take evasive action.

As much as I hate to say it, the others, if they're small enough not to cause damage, don't take evasive action. Any cop will tell you this. You run the risk of wrecking your car and maybe hitting somebody else and getting hurt/killed. Of course, each dog I hit, I stopped and checked on them and took care of the mess.

Can you believe I hit 3 pigeons in one shot? There was a bunch of them sitting on the road just before dawn and I didn't see them until the last second. They attempted to fly off but I felt three thuds along my front end. :S

Okay, another question...

MY beaver...when it's not being cranky, and wants to play...has a grip like a vise!

After I pet it for a time, it seems to get VERY frisky.

When I give it wood, it seems to want to hoard the whole thing and not give it back.

I've given a lotta wood to a lotta beavers, but none ever held as tight as this one...

Do you think tight beavers are more fun to play with?

What the hell does that have to do with trapping beavers? Why don't you go hijack some other thread?

aahhhh! youve found the elusive mad dog beaver! very fun and energetic, mad dog beavers love to frolic and play. dont let the name scare you, theyre not "mad" as in a hatter but so named because once they've got wood, they clamp on like a mad dog. The grip is unmistakable. They then ravage the wood until they have their fill.
Quite the catch!
second only to the Hell On Trees beaver (H.O.T. beaver).

Let me explain....

About seven days ago a Turtle Dove flew into my back porch taking out the screen and scaring the bejeezus out of me....caught it and put it under a bush by our fountain as it looked a little stunned and when I placed it down I found blood on my hands[:/], should have been the first sign. Then on friday a dog ran out in front of my truck causing a chain reaction accident involving me and three other cars. WTF!? Then last night while heading to the movies to see, what else, Over the Hedge, a flock of Geese ran out in front of my car...they ran just a pretty as you please right out in front of me...I did not brake, I did not swerve, just took my foot off the gas and they did make it across, but not with out scaring the bejeezus out of me again. Then this morning a bumble bee, they have furry asses...was stuck in my Jeep and mad as a hornet (:D) and ended up stinging me on me neck!! WTF!!?? Now I look as though I have a gorder on my neck!!
Does any one know a chant or a Kabbala pray to get things right and in order in the animal kingdom for me??? Save me!!

Bobbi

I've mentioned this before, in BF. It is a plot on the part of animals to take-back, what we have taken from them! Their homes! That dove incident was a lone 'kamikaze'. The geese did that to get you to swerve, with hopes of your hitting a tree, light-pole or some other in-animate object. Squirrels are running re-con! You think for one moment, those giant carp, jumping into fishermen's boats was 'coincidence'? I don't think so! You've read of moose and elk pillaging towns and scaring the crap out of people? Large birds, dive-bombing people? It's all, part of the plot by animals. You're just going to have to be on your guard and be ready for the next 'attack'. Don't say, I didn't warn you!
