NoPush 0 #54 November 11, 2003 Plaything.........Friends rock huh! I had a similar reaction to RedBull and Vodka in Vegas with friends. The more I drank the more wired I felt, so the more I drank. We started drinking doubles, then shot side cars...........then the lights went out and I started choking. Unfortunately scared the hell out of my friends, but I owe them huge for spending the next few hours baby sitting my ass, and not hesitating to get help. Turns out there is a lethal amount of RedBull mixed with alcohol. Most get sick before they get there......I got close. Everything from certain headache medication, nasal decongestant, sports drinks, to diet pills can have a type of stimulant that doesn't react well with alcohol. Cheers! I maintain that CPR should be taught in the schools. I think about Jr High and repeated in High School. I learned the Heimlich Maneuver in CPR class for work. Then friend's kid swallowed a hard candy. I did the maneuver first too lightly then the second try worked. I promptly passed the kid off to the hysterical mother, left the room and nearly fainted. To this day I am afraid of Jolly Ranchers. A Related Idea is > Because we are in a sport (any sport) we should know some ER techniques. Treat a sprained ankle or whatever. Our DZ's should have an updated First Aid kit. I once couldnt find anything in the kit for a my friend's facial laceration. The cold packs you crack to get cold are very valuable, also ace bandages. Maybe its a good idea that we all take some things out there to add to their First Aid kit and to keep on hand. I had to use a cold pack. Skydive Houston then provided me with crutches and a removable short leg cast to get me by till I got to the ER room. These are things people took out when they didnt need them anymore. We were all just having fun on the double vodka and redbulls, then got back to mine and he found a bottle of Sebor Absinth in my cupboard. Passed out, spewing up blood, incoherant. It was kinda scary - he was out of it and had alcohol poisoning for two days. We all go slightly easier on the drink now - at least to keep an eye on him!
