If it's already installed on your computer, just choose an instant messenger you want to use it with. I use mine with Yahoo and MSN...it has better time with MSN, but it keeps locking up on me...and to clarify I don't have a VAIO, my webcam is an aftermarket and not the same brand as my laptop.

Most IM's recognize if it is hooked up or not, and if it was built in, it should have the software as part of the drivers if not the pack of software you get when you bought the laptop. So your best bet is to open up one of your IM's and see what it has to say about it.
