kelel01 1 #1 June 5, 2006 Due to the inefficient nature of 90% of polls I've seen, I felt compelled to create some simple guidelines to follow to make answering a poll easier for the "survees". 1. There should almost always be an "other" category. Some exceptions include completely straightforward yes or no questions, like, "Have you ever had (given OR received) oral sex?". 2. When the answer categories are numerical (such as "At what age . . ." or "How many jumps until . . ." polls), the categories CANNOT overlap. E.g. - 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc. NOT 20-25, 25-30, 30-35, etc. 3. You may put an answer choice such as "Kelly is a moron", but be forewarned that many people will choose that just to be funny, thereby corrupting the scientific integrity of your survey. 4. Make sure there are no typos. You can't edit polls on here. 5. And if you want your results broken down by gender, it's probably best if the options match each other. Sometimes the girls get all up in arms when they're not treated the same as the guys. Anybody have anything else to add?

Now, now, if Bill Clinton taught us anything, it was that that is NOT a straightforward yes or no question. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

It may be a Valid Opinion.
kelel01 1 #5 June 5, 2006 Well, that's why I didn't say "sex". Because people always want to ask, "Well, what counts as sex?".

Lindercles 0 #7 June 5, 2006 When setting up a pole poll clarity is key. Any ambiguity when setting up a pole poll can lead to frustration, and eventual failure of said pole poll. It is important not to set up a pole poll while intoxicated. This can lead to embarassment and regret the next day, and sometimes even forgetting the details of the pole poll you set up. And perhaps most importantly, if you have a nasty pole poll, keep it to yourself.
