Whole Foods Market

Recommended Posts

I used to drive to Whole Foods once a week for groceries. It was over an hour away but worth the drive. Have you ever been to a Trader Joe's? I like them better, same stuff but it's not as pricey.

I have never heard of "Whole Foods" but it makes me wonder... is there a "Partial Foods" somewhere out there?

I haven't seen a Trader Joes in Colorado nor down here in Florida.
Tonight they had a wine/cheese tasting and I'm such a sucker...I had to buy it all! It was called "Menage á trois"...cheese is a combo of goat, cow and sheep's milk and the white wine was a combo of chard, pinot, and another white.

I love Whole Foods! When I left Colorado I thought that was the end. COme to find out they were building 1 about 4 miles away from my new home. It rocks! I go there for my meats and produce but I still love my Doritoes and Cheeto's to much to eat rice chips yet. Not that much of a hippie I guess. Still a great place to go.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Yeah, there's a reason they call it "Whole Paycheck."[:/]

...I'm a big Trader Joe's fan for that reason, so if you have one near you check it out. Lot's of fun stuff and the organic if you're into it. But even the more mundane - like a box "Trader Oh's" (their version of Cheerios) are like a $1.99 for a large box! Cheerios at the grocery store is almost $6/box, depending where you go - it's insane. And they have a great taste - it's not generic stuff.

Oh, I'm a big Trader Joe's fan, and rumor has it they're putting a new one right in my neighborhood, so I can walk to it rather than fighting the crazy parking at the one across town!

I find the Whole Foods crowd (*especially* here in Seattle) to be overly pretentious and annoying. Not everyone, of course, but there's a huge contingent of self-righteous crunchies and foodies who can get really irritating and believe that paying three times as much for everything is a badge of honor. :S The place has some good stuff, that's for sure, but mostly I can get what I would get there from other sources, at least here in Seattle.

I'm very fortunate in that there's a lot of great options (farmer's markets, Trader Joe's, Uwajimaya - a HUGE Asian market, local supermarket chains, etc.) for getting good quality fresh produce and other foods that your local Safeway doesn't carry without having to deal with the Whole Foods attitude.

I love Trader Joes as well, but it is about a quarter of the size of Whole Foods. I think you could fit an entire Trader Joes into the Whole Foods produce department. I think of Whole Foods as more of a gourmet store, and I'll go there if I'm planning a special meal. They have a lot of items I can't find at the regular grocery store OR Trader Joes.

In my area, we don't have the actual chain stores 'Whole Foods Market' or 'Trader Joe's', but rather independent food coops. I buy my Spirutein from them. Most of their stuff is very good, but pricey. However, if I wanted sand for oatmeal, I'd buy a big bag from Home Depot.

This is the thing that drives me crazy about these stores: The people that work there and most of the shoppers are so fucking ugly!!! They're supposed to be consuming allegedly healthy foods and they look like leppers. And they seem to embrace their ugliness. They compound it by not washing or combing their hair and they wear clothes that look like they have been rejected by the homeless.[:/] It just pisses me off.>:( I just go in, get my stuff and get out. Wal-Mart people look better.[:/]

Yowza! Easy, cowboy:P

We don't have "Whole Foods" or "Trader Joe's" either, but we have (as previously mentioned) a "Fresh Market" which I love. It's NOT AT ALL as you described. Actually, I always joke to my hunny we stick out like sore thumbs b/c everyone in there looks like a member of the big, rich beachside country club we have here---complete with the sweater tied around the neck:D We're usually in jeans and a T;)

But, I LOVE that place and they have the best orchids (ironically for the lowest price) in town!:)
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
