How Much of a Tip For a Massage?

My company just started an employee benefit of a health club membership. One of the things that is included is a free massage the first time we use the spa services. Their usual fee is $80.

I'm sore after jumping this weekend so I scheduled it for tonight. What would be an appropriate tip to leave the masseuse?

On top of an $80 massage I'd say $15-20. Since it's totally free, you should probably go on the higher end of that scale.

I've had both male and female massage therapists and they've all been very respectful and take care to make sure that you're comfortable and they keep things as modest as possible.

I would have asked for a male because they give better deep tissue massages.. As far as a tip I would do $15-20 based on if the person was doing a good or a great job.

Choose what makes your feel comfortable (male or female). I've had massages by both male and female and they were all great but the male was able to use more strength and apply more pressure at times. So depending on your needs, that's something to think about also.

Enjoy it though!!! I just tried a hot stone massage and it was outstanding!!!

I'll vary my tips depending on whether the masseuse is private or works for a club. For instance, my regular masseuse doesn't work for a club, she just has a little room in a nutritionist's office that she rents. So, because 50 percent of my money isn't going to a club or other facility, I'll tip around 10 percent. If I'm getting a massage from someone who has to give 50 percent to a facility, I'll tip around 20 percent.

I mean it's not like a restaurant where you're basically paying for the food and service but the waitress gets so damn little of it that a tip is a good thing.

The massage therapist is only going to be getting $25 to $40 of that $80. If it is a good massage, you should tip at least 20% of the cost.

If it is a great massage, I would tip $20. A $20 tip really shows your appreciation.

Being a massage therapist is a lot more work than waiting tables.

The last thing I wanted tonight was a deep-tissue massage. The combat bigways on Saturday left my muscles sore!

Just because I had a six-inch long, three inch wide bruise with three blood blisters on my forearm and a three-inch long, two-inch wide bruise on my bicep, she wouldn't touch my arms at all... And she shorted by hour because of it.

I gave her a $16 tip and the website address for my DZ. That's 20 percent and the opportunity to have an unforgetable experience. That's enough...
