Yes the arc from electric welding produces UV light. That is why it is very important to keep your skin covered up. Something heavy, and preferbly not flamable.

Oh give me a break. I would drink the wine for pleasure.

But the wine represents jesus's blood! I think you should just give up drinking all alcohol just to be safe!! :)

Jesus must have been one hell of a drunk to have blood like wine... B|

I know.. I'm not making any friends with that one.

[Peter is receiving communion]
Peter Griffin: Wow, is that really the blood of Christ?
Preacher: Yes.
Peter Griffin: Wow, that guy must've been wasted 24 hours a day, huh?

First experience with welding-induced sunburn, it was at the end of the day and a guy came over to my bench with a small stainless steel piece that had a one-inch crack in it. I fired up my TIG machine and glued it up, adding a little filler metal to beef it up a bit. Took all of about one minute total. I was just wearing a t-shirt (I had taken my heavy long-sleeve shirt off already) By the time I got home I was nice and red.

Be sure to always wear those long sleeves, or leather, and a full shield. Just imagine what that UV can do to your retinas if it'll burn your skin that quickly!!

Easy Does It

Welding burns things. Seriously, it melts steel, aluminum, etc.
Surely it will burn you.
Ive had my share of burns over the years. Even when using my leathers, gloves and helmet.
Ive even burned my eyes. (apparently had a crack in my lens) Now lemmy tell ya about how bad that is.
Imagine washing your eyes with hot sand.
Most unpleasant. :|

I'd go for a mig, unless you're building a trawler.

Exactly. You can pick up a flux core MIG setup that runs on 110 for not much money. I think you'd enjoy using it more.
