specialguest 0 #1 June 8, 2006 My mom tore her rotator cuff and is planning on having surgery in mid-July. She has been dealing with the pain of it since about January. Tough lady. Have any of you had this injury? Any advice I can send her way? Thanks!

goofyjumper 0 #3 June 8, 2006 I work at a personal injury law firm and we have a client who has this same injury to deal with and he has to live with for the rest of his life. And the insurance company is offering an insulting amount. That whole thing has changed his life and cannot do the job he once did. Very sad I wish alot of luck to your mother.----------------- I love and Miss you so much Honey! Orfun #3 ~ Darla
specialguest 0 #4 June 8, 2006 Thanks for the info. My grandmother (her mom) passed away in mid-March and my mom has been taking Vicodin so she can move her arm and pack up the house. None of her siblings are helping her at all. I've flown home about 8 weekends to help out.
HUSHPUPPY 0 #5 June 9, 2006 I had surgery on my left rotator cuff 4 years ago! Mine requried invasive surgery (vrs. scope) which meant longer recovery and more pain. The PT was very hard, but after all was done my shoulder feels great and I do not regret it at all! Just ask for good drugs and do EXACTLY what the Dr's say! "You made my panties wet!" pullhigh 0 #7 June 9, 2006 I have had my left shoulder done, with a scope. My right shoulder needs, but there is no way in hell that I will go through that again unless I lose use of it. Surgery recovery was tough as far as pain, PT sucked ass, but I had no idea how many bodily functions affect the shoulder. Any muscle tension goes through there in some way shape or form.... mattyblast 0 #10 June 9, 2006 I had a labral tear in my right rotator cuff that was successfully repaired through arthroscopic surgery. The cool thing is that they fixed it with a special kind of pin/tack that absorbed into the bone over time. That's a lot better than dealing with a piece of metal hardware of some kind. Good luck and be patient. It'll all work out! "DOOR!!!"
jumpwally 0 #11 June 9, 2006 With all due respect, you most likely didn't tear it, ,,( never had it looked at right? )cuz if you did tear it bad you wouldn't be able to function very well, most likely you just smashed the hell out of it ...smile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083

Actually if it requires surgery, its torn. I've had 2 surgeries on my right shoulder. One arthroscopic and the second open. I'm in my 4th month of recovery from the open surgery and its going very very well. Much better than my first BECAUSE I went to PT, did exactly what my surgeon prescribed and we're both hard-set on getting back in the air asap. I do not regret any of it, the pain was there but manageable. To be honest the arthroscopic surgery was more painful than the open invasive. Weird... oh well, I'm happy now looking forward to a full recovery. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

When I went for knee surgery, for a torn miniscus and ACL, the Dr. told me about my shoulder through an examination. I failed to mention, I went through weeks of pain but, was in no position at the time to have it fixed. I basically worked around it. It bothers me on occasion, to this day but, it's nothing I can't live with. Chuck
