happythoughts 0 #28 June 12, 2006 Last year, I went to the Harvest Moon boogie on the weekend before Wilma hit. I called my contracting company on Sunday night, but they were still expecting us to come into work. It is not surprising how little traffic is coming INTO Florida when a hurricane is approaching. There I was... me and 30 electrical trucks driving down I-75 on Sunday night in the rain. When I finally got closer to Tampa, they called me and told me not to come in. Boneheads. I work for the stupidest people ever.

NlghtJumper 0 #30 June 12, 2006 Yeah, but from what I saw, all the t-storms have already started moving in. They are running from the keys, north. Even thou the stupid storm is still in the Gulf. PLFXpert 0 #31 June 12, 2006 Being a homeowner changes everything. I used to get excited for a good storm. Now, I'm all checking my insurance, boarding up windows, trimming back plants, etc. etc. etc. I'm seriously considering Winguard--I hate feeling trapped inside a dungeon But, once that's all done, it can still be fun making the most of the situaton. Obviously (THANKFULLY) my coast hasn't had it too bad. Frances knocked over quite a few trees and scalped some roofs, but nothing major. I still love FloridaPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
popsjumper 2 #32 June 12, 2006 Hurricanes...hmmpf...you take what nature throws at you and move on. 1. Hurricane Parties 2. Surf's Up! Take your board to the beaches 3. Wild-ass sky and cloud watching 4. Kiting with 100lb test line 5. Skateboarding with a bedsheet 6. Riding high trees 7. Making $$$ pushing cars out of flooded areas 8. Floatin' the boat in the flooded streets 9. Etc., etc. Yeah we had hurricane fun as kids.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
