billvon 3,132 #1 June 12, 2006 Looks like the first hurricane of the season is brewing off the coast of northern FL. Let's hope this season isn't like the last one. -------------------- At 10 am CDT...1500 UTC...a Hurricane Warning has been issued for the Gulf Coast of Florida from Longboat Key to the Ochlockonee River. . . . Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph...110 km/hr...with higher gusts. Alberto has the potential to become a hurricane within the next 24 hours. ---------------------

brierebecca 0 #6 June 12, 2006 I just got off a phone call with the governor's office - I work for the Department of Health. The storm is supposed to make landfall tomorrow between 10 and 2, and I think our Emergency Operations Center had already determined that it is a category 1 hurricane. FSU is still open, though.
