darklow 0 #1 August 30, 2007 Considering buying new ROK Helmet from Cookie Composites with for top mount video and still camera http://www.cookiecomposites.com/shop/helmets/40/index.htm Anyone has jump with it, any comments? It is written it is for base jumping and canopy pilots. I saw in picture it has holes in sides. What about noise level if using this helmet in freeflying? About design, anyone has pictures of this camera wearing it? Wondering how wide it looks on your head :) Any comments about this helmet will be appreciated Thanks. The Earth is Art, The Photographer is only a Witness http://adventure.lv/
Cookie 0 #2 September 1, 2007 I read your post and thought I would help you out with some feedback we have had from one of our customers. Our intention with this design is to offer the ability to hear more with improved forehead and rear skull protection and the ability to adapt this helmet into a semi pro/pro camera helmet. We have incomporated two shell sizes with this design to keep the helmet as close to your head as practically possible for all sizes. One customer AkA Begium Steve is currently working at Empuria Brava DZ/Spain has put close to 800 jumps on this setup. He uses a PC9 and EOS 350 D top monted and enjoys the ability to clearly hear chat within the aircraft and airspeed when committed to his final approach for a good swoop. Freefall wind noise is not excessive due to the design of the vents. For BASE I can suggest to contact Douggs at Base Dreams.com as he has recently attended the KL Base tour and will give you un biased feed back on this new helmet. Iam happy to answer any other questions you may have. Cheers Cookie
