tigra 0 #27 June 13, 2006 Kind of ironic, since my guess is if you take him off his special diet, his vet bills will only increase. I've got a 16 year old cat with "challenged" kidneys- he's been on a special diet for several years now, which is probably why he's still with me and going strong at 16. I just suck it up and pay his vet bills, charge them if need be. I guess in that sense, I'm fortunate to have a credit card.

soulshine 0 #29 June 13, 2006 You guys are awsome with your kind pm's and encouragement. Right after I posted this thread the vet called back and said that I could pick her up as soon as I wanted to. As I type this I am cracking up at the puppy doing this bunny hop-scoot thing all over the place. Her energy level is fantastic and she is very curious and active. It has been one hell of a ride but she is worth every second of it. I like the name Kismet. Without question fate had a role in placing us together. Well, yesterday it started having seizures and was vomiting. I immediately took her to the vet and he gave me a grim picture of the situation. It appeared that she was going to need a lot of testing and treatment that I couldn't afford and so the vet told me that the humane thing to do would be to put her to sleep. I took his advise and made the call. After I left the vet did a few exams on the puppy and decided to run the tests anyway, without any payment on them. He has found the problem and is treating her now! He is not asking for any payment or compensation, he just couldn't put the little sweetie to sleep. I get to pick her up this afternoon! She is such a little miracle and those who have read my previous posts about her and have seen her pictures will know what I am talking about. She's got a tough road ahead of her but she's a little fighter, for sure! I am so excited. I get a second chance to take care of such a beautiful creature. I'm a damn lucky girl! BFD.
 soulshine 0 #39 June 13, 2006 She had parasites and as a result was very anemic. She also has some liver problems but we will not know the extent for some time. The vet has treated everything that he could, to include a transfusion, and has given me some medicine to give to her at home. She is doing good now but that could change in the future. She has a tough road ahead but I'm staying confident that she'll pull through. And to Walt- Fuck off, ya damn cat lover. Its very irresponsible of them to adopt out a pet in that condition. The leg is something you knew about- parasites and anemia are things any shelter needs to test for and treat before offering an animal up for adoption. Makes you wonder what condition the rest of their animals are in. Your vet sounds like a keeper, though!
