The size of some people's heart is amazing!

Recommended Posts

I recently posted about getting a puppy. Well, yesterday it started having seizures and was vomiting. I immediately took her to the vet and he gave me a grim picture of the situation. It appeared that she was going to need a lot of testing and treatment that I couldn't afford and so the vet told me that the humane thing to do would be to put her to sleep. I took his advise and made the call.

After I left the vet did a few exams on the puppy and decided to run the tests anyway, without any payment on them. He has found the problem and is treating her now! He is not asking for any payment or compensation, he just couldn't put the little sweetie to sleep.

I get to pick her up this afternoon! She is such a little miracle and those who have read my previous posts about her and have seen her pictures will know what I am talking about. She's got a tough road ahead of her but she's a little fighter, for sure! I am so excited. I get a second chance to take care of such a beautiful creature. I'm a damn lucky girl!

Rock!

Now we really must come up with an awesome name for her.:)

OMG!!

I was just thinking about you and your sweet pup this morning - I was so sad for you!! And now, you both get a second chance! :) This is choking me up a wee bit. I love stories like this!

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

That is truly a Miracle! :)

No,it's not. it was an act of kindness from someone who loves pets ( the vet) FOR someone who loves pets (soulshine)

it's a cool story and shows how awesome some people can be, but it's hardly a miracle.

That is [B]GREAT!!!

You could name her "Second Chance." Or just "Chance" or "Chancie."

Okay...I'll go get a life now. ;)

You should name her Karma.

Ditto.....I think that would be a great name.:)

Karma sounds like a good name!

OH MY GOD - HOW WONDERFUL, INCREDIBLE, AND JUST GENERALLY FANTABULOUS!!!!:)
Oh, I was feeling soooo bad for you yesterday...you were so sad, and I was thinking about you all evening. I'm an animal lover, so I was thinking about your decision to take on this sweet little challenge and the extra thought and emotional investment you must have put into it, then to have it dashed. I went to bed very down-hearted for you, and to wake up to this news is just the best for me, but most epecially for your and your little Lazarus girl (no, I'm not suggesting you call her Lazarus)!

What a great vet you have!

Oh, I'm so excited for you - this has made my day!

I only wish I could think of a really great name for her sitation...I'll keep working on it, as I'm sure everyone else will!

P.S. As a take-off from Scott's dog Karma, how about 'Kismet' (fate/destiny)??

Such a great outcome to a grim sounding story. I'm so glad your new puppy is hanging in there and over coming all these hurdles. I'll light a candle for your puppy and wish both of you the best!

I get a new kitty, George tomorrow! I'm so excited. I can't wait to get a house so I can have room for a dog to run and play! I want a big dog so I just can't justify keeping the poor thing in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apt.

Consider getting pet insurance so you're able to financially handle something like this in the future. Ask your vet which plan you should consider. Most are less than $20 a month. I can't insure my cats because they're on a special diet (pre-existing medical condition and all that), so I've got a rainy-day savings account that can cover stuff like that. There's not many things worse than having to euthanize your companion for something treatable because you don't have the cash. Some vets won't do it. The vet I take my cats to won't euthanize for something treatable. He offers to take the animal and treat it, and then keeps it at the clinic as a blood donor. The animal is so pampered and fussed over by the vets and the techs, and the other animals benefit from having a matching donor on site in the case of an emergency. Everyone wins.

Glad your puppy is going to be okay. You must post new pictures as soon as she is feeling better so we can all fuss over how adorable she is!

She may be; it depends on what the problem is and whether she requires ongoing treatment. My cat has an ongoing condition and will be on a special diet forever, which is why he is not insurable. The insurance companies have told me if I can take him off the diet, they will insure him.
