Lindercles 0 #2 June 15, 2006 I've actually heard people say "why do they put those two bars on the screen?"
pilotdave 0 #3 June 15, 2006 Until I got a wide screen TV, I hated wide screen DVDs. Still annoying because wide screen DVDs have a higher aspect ratio than the TV, so you still end up with black bars. I'd like 16:9 DVDs, but that still sort of defeats the purpose of the widescreen dvd in the first place - to not cut off the edges. Dave
MF42 0 #4 June 15, 2006 When I worked in tech support for DirecTv there was a never ending supply of idiots who asked that same question and expected me to be able to fix it for them. Matt
indyz 1 #5 June 15, 2006 Widescreen, because I have a 16:9 screen. Even on a 4:3, I usually go with widescreen because there are some truly awful pan-and-scan jobs out there (A Few Good Men comes to mind).

Ever see the Benny Hill skit in which he made fun of the various techniques used to fit wide-screen movies to the TV screen? Ncrowe 0 #8 June 15, 2006 Depends on what type of movie it is, napoelan dynamite or harold and kumar I prefer fullscreen. If it's a scenic move I'll go with widescreen ..... "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "
NlghtJumper 0 #9 June 15, 2006 I do widescreen as often as possible just to be able to catch everything that they like to cut off in a fullscreen movie. ChasingBlueSky 0 #10 June 15, 2006 Always been a big fan of the 16:9 aspect ratio - and loathe pan and scan. I remember buying early Laser Discs to see the only widescreen versions of some movies. Now that me and my friends all have HD widescreens, I doubt that I could ever go back._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... grue 1 #11 June 15, 2006 My father is a screenwriter, and I grew up around the entertainment industry. If I ever intentionally chose a fullscreen movie over a widescreen, I'd probably be disowned. Hell, I'd probably be dismembered, too. That having been said, I also hate fullscreen of my own accord, because I want to see the movie the way the director intended it to be seen.cavete terrae.
