Is there any real chance of a silly string can exploding at or below 14,000MSL?

if it doesn't explode it will certainly be very funny.

Taking off with a 1/2 used can will certainly lessen the risks. Can't you write to the manufacturers see what they think ??

GOod call, I can waste some before taking it up. I'm going to use one in each hand, spray and spin in a circle as fast as I can. SHould be fun.

I'm sure the manus will be like "Um.. Liability. Don't use above 6 feet"

ask if you can take a can to the mountain, if there's any risk and if it'll work properly.
also ask the pilot if he is comfortable flying with a pressurized can in the plane (sometimes they fly with WD40 and stuff, so it should be OK, but never a bad call to ask anyways.

One in each hand ? What do you do with the can on deployment ?

Assuming MSL the pressure at that altitude is gonna be about .5 * sea level pressure. A bit of a difference.

I have no idea regulations though, it's an aircraft and shit can happen in an aircraft beyond simply climbing to altitude.

I'm not going to sit around and figure it out scientifically but I'd be willing to bet if you sprayed a 1/4 of the can or so before you went up it'll be fine. If you really want to be safe.........put it in something like a small metal tool box or a sturdy leather bag for the ride up. That should contain it in the event of an explosion.
