NlghtJumper 0 #1 June 18, 2006 In 2001 between February and April the XFL played out their one and only season before being cancelled. Do you think it was even worth the attempt? If so, would it be able to make a second run this much later? Rookie120 0 #2 June 18, 2006 I thought it was a joke. When I want to watch football I want football. If I wathched wrestling, I would wantch wrestling. I dont want the 2 mixed up between each other. Most of them were a bunch of wannabe NFL guys who didnt make the draft of got cut. Goodbye and hope you dont come back. Just my opinion. I could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time.If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
NlghtJumper 0 #3 June 18, 2006 I kind of liked it. It has most of the fun of watching a good game with the addition of some REALLY hard hits. I still remember watching it on TV and hearing the pads slam against each other as the players just nailed each other. Another question is... was each game fixed kind of like each wrestling match? Or were they allowed to just play their game and see who comes out on top? If you were then my guess would be that it was fpr real. I thought it was real.If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
NlghtJumper 0 #5 June 18, 2006 It looked real to me, but then again, when I was younger, wrestling looked real to me too. So you never really know. I gave up wrestling when I was about 13-14. I got sick of the match that never ended because someone came into the ring and hit the other dude in the back with a chair. Plus the managers outside the ring always doing something to distract the ref got a little old also.If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! NlghtJumper 0 #7 June 18, 2006 I watched it until I was about 15 or 16. But that was mainly because WCW Wrestler "Hacksaw" Jim Dugan lives right down the street from me. So I would mainly watch to see if I could spot him. After a while, I just couldnt deal with all the crap thou... NlghtJumper 0 #9 June 18, 2006 He has every single one of those 2x4's he has ever used hanging in his garage at home. Its really cool to see that "crazy" side of him on TV, then to go talk to him when selling fundraisers and what not, and he seems like he couldnt hurt a fly. NlghtJumper 0 #11 June 18, 2006 Titusville, Florida. The neighborhood is Silk Oak. NlghtJumper 0 #13 June 18, 2006 Out there in Florida, its a nice quiet neighborhood, not too many people bother him except little kids asking for autographs. Its also got a great school district for his two girls, and he has a BEAUTIFUL house. NlghtJumper 0 #15 June 18, 2006 For a while he wasnt on TV because he was running his own gym downtown. Once that shut down, he started coming back some, then I gave up watching. I dont know how much air time he gets anymore. But his house is like the size of a 3 story, but its only 2. The living room, is vaulted all the way to the roof! Its amazing to go inside of. Hacksaw told me that if I ever saw a bunch of limos in the driveway to go stop by and meet some of the other wrestlers. Apparently he use to party with Sting and all them! We live in the "rich" neighborhood with all the amazing houses and everything. Even though we arnt rich. Hell, I found out last May that Hacksaws neighbor use to be Skydive Space Center's DZO! Apparently they use to have crazy ass parties over there too! I love my neighborhood. Broke 0 #18 June 18, 2006 They promissed the refs would give the whistles a break, and I think there were more penalty calls for the XFL than in the NFL.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. Anvil Brother 84 SCR 14192
Gawain 0 #19 June 18, 2006 I liked the idea of it because it was showing some areas of coverage that wasn't being presented on NFL games. I think the founder though (Gene?), wrecked his credibility on that interview with Bob Costas though, and sponsors bailed. Otherwise, there would have been at least one more season to see if it would stick, get the bugs out, etc. How many attempts were there with USFL, way back when?So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Cudlo 0 #20 June 18, 2006 Never saw the XFL... anything like the current Arena Football League?_________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard
Lindercles 0 #21 June 18, 2006 Not really. For starters the AFL just finished it's 20th season. Basically the XFL only existed for shock value. The AFL is actually a pretty interesting variation on the sport.
Lindercles 0 #22 June 18, 2006 QuoteHow many attempts were there with USFL, way back when? And don't forget the WLAF. When you consider how many failed attempts there have been at other football leagues, it's pretty amazing that the AFL has done so well.
