I NEED to travel

Recommended Posts

ALWAYS GO ALONE!

Never go with someone else unless it is for a small amount of time, otherwise you will find yourself doing things you dont want to be doing and arguments can happen.

Do it on your own, i always meet other people and do different sectors with new friends. I love it, i do what i want and go where i want. Traveling with another freind will take your freindship to a place it has never been to before.

Do it on your own so it is your rules and you dont need to worry about what others want in their trip. So easy to meet people to travel with when you are there. You will get on the backpacker circle and meet tons of new freinds.

Kel, I spent a month in Tanzania last year, visiting a friend. I can tell you about it and I'll show you my pics sometime if you want. I also have some guidebooks that might give you some direction...

There are lots of places I'd love to go see too. I think the next ones on my list are Australia/New Zeland and Asia...not sure where yet. :)

Yeah . . . I really wanna go somewhere alone. Now I just need to pick a place a) I can afford, and b) I'm really interested in going.

Brazil WAS #1, but now I'm thinking I want to go somewhere more like Thailand or Africa. Somewhere completely different from what I'm used to.

Traveling alone rules. Having someone you can go to if things get icky is also nice (do know where the US consulate is -- you might not need them, but you might not know the rules, either).

Learn to speak enough of a language to find a restaurant, hotel, bathroom, train station, and say please and thank you. Especially those last two. Smile a lot.

And do pay attention to local culture -- there are places in the world where a young woman is likely to be groped. Be ready for it, or don't go there. Really.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I want to see the deepest regions of Africa, Indonesia, the South Pacific, etc.

As an attractive, intelligent American woman, I would definitely avoid Muslim countries for the next 10 to 20 years. I doubt you'd be missing anything.

Why???

You say that you doubt you would be missing anything anyway... That is a very small minded thing to say.

If she thinks the way you think i would advise to never leave america. I think your comment was disgusting.
Indonesia and africa are 2 amazing countries with cultures and traits your country could learn alot from.

Africa is the greatest place on earth. I suggest you do not go to any other country apart from your own thinking the way you do.

Why???

I'm concerned for her physical safety.

I've lived in many places, including your country.

Have you ever heard of "chop-chop" square? They drag infidels up close so they make sure blood gets on them. Most Americans wouldn't know that.

You said she would not be missing anything. That is what i find very disturbing that you can say this. Americans have become very hated people in this world, we all know that but it does not mean she will not be missing anything.

Africa is the place i am saving for when i retire. The dream of doing a 30 day safari would be the greatest thing in my life.

You can not do that in america, unless a zoo of course[:/]

I've been there. The beauty of Africa is such that mere pictures and video could never do it justice. Indonesa can be fantastic, and the South Pacific is absolutely marvelous - especially if you're a SCUBA diver.

Look into teaching English over there.

You're right. I retract that statement. Cultures are a beautiful thing, if the people open up to you.

When I read this I pulled out my passport to see where I have been... Thailand, Singapore, Guam, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, England, Ireland, Turkey, India, France, Holland, Germany, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand.. and yesterday Canada.

All those places, and all those things to see and explore... but like Dorothy said, there is no place like home. ;)
