ntrprnr 0 #1 June 21, 2006 A dell Laptop caught fire and exploded at a conference yesterday. Caught in photos. Wild stuff: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32550_______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." Slappie 9 #4 June 21, 2006 Quotei assume the Inquirer tells the truth? Its not like the Enquirer, right? I've no barometer as to the validity of the article. It's pretty funny though. I saw it on Digg.com this morning. As far as can be figured out, it's a Dell CD600 laptop. Probably with some seriously faulty batteries. *edit* to add: If any of you have experience with Lithium, it tends to explode and cause a big mess when it gets wet. Some laptop batteries are made from lithium-ion batteries. Could have been a leak and some water or a liquid spilt on the conference table.. Then the resulting BOOM! "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." StreetScooby 5 #5 June 21, 2006 Interesting. I own a Dell laptop. Just went through a battery recall. Older batteries tended to get hot and cause fires. We are all engines of karma
