sioux 0 #1 June 23, 2006 hey all, I'm sitting at home recovering from an ACL reconstruction. My total injury was much worse than just ACL, so I've been in and out of action for the past 3 months. This whole experience has been such an emotional roller coaster - devastation, relief that it wasn't worse, depression, elation, introspection, frustration, just to name a few of the more salient moments. Has anyone else had extended periods on the sidelines? Any advice? I haven't seen such convoluted lines of conversation and such expert chronicling thereof since my days of all day bong marathons in college. ~ Lindercles

MF42 0 #3 June 23, 2006 Currently out of action with a back injury. Only advice I have is don't go insane from the inactivity. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to avoid said insanity; I think it's creeping up on me. Matt

scaryshari 0 #7 June 23, 2006 From one benchwarmer to another, keep things in perspective. At least we get to recover!!! Meanwhile, I pass time watching hair on my knees grow, watching reality TV, finding new ways to do laundry, etc . Its hard to sit when folks like us are consistantly on the move. However, we DO have the ability to get well. Meanwhile, we gotta suck it up and make the best of it. The hardest part of my recovery process has been removing my foot from my ass - D'oh!!! Can't wait to have a good cold beer. Meanwhile, vicodin is my friend.....weeee!! Be well!! is
kelpdiver 2 #8 June 23, 2006 Quote Can't wait to have a good cold beer. Meanwhile, vicodin is my friend.....weeee!! I want the booze too. Vicodin << cadillac margarita. If it weren't for the bad interaction I think I'd become alcoholic. I'm only at 15 days and mildly crazy. But I think I'll only have another week or so till the shoulder operation and then I hope it gets better.

Muenkel 0 #10 June 23, 2006 I am in my 34th month of recovery from a serious head injury. I'm still frequently in the ER due to severe pain. Here's my advice: Lose all self-pity. That is a disease that will suck the life out of you. Remember, there are countless people who live with chronic illness or pain everyday of their lives. You have some hope of recovery. Get your mind off yourself. Pick up the phone and call someone you have been thinking about. Email someone you haven't corresponded with in a while. If there is someone out there you can help while you're injured...do it! Suck it up! I don't mean to sound harsh, but this is a necessity to avoid depression and discouragement. I have learned that when you think about the countless people who are burdened with much more difficult hardships, you begin to feel really foolish. Laugh, as much as you can! And last, but not least....POSTWHORE!!! Chris _________________________________________ Chris
