Brains 2 #2 June 22, 2006 very cool view, and nice family you got there, but just what kind of RECON mission was it with pic #204????? Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

JeepDiver 0 #6 June 22, 2006 It's good you have the dog, looks nice, it looks like bear country though.
TrophyHusband 0 #7 June 22, 2006 i'm sure there are plenty of black bear and cougar there, but they are usually more scared of us than we are of them. north of here there are a few brown bears and lots of wolves so i can't take her. JeepDiver 0 #8 June 22, 2006 Quotei'm sure there are plenty of black bear and cougar there, but they are usually more scared of us than we are of them. north of here there are a few brown bears and lots of wolves so i can't take her. I was worried about the two cute little kids. Cougars are on a comeback, they keep getting joggers and women walkers with children in California. Short of carrying a firearm like a pistol it's a good idea to have bear repellent in a high pressure can.... not to ruin the vacation and all but I noticed the kids are very young. TrophyHusband 0 #9 June 22, 2006 you're right, they are very young. my oldest is almost three. my biggest concern is cougar. because of this, i keep him close by. i doubt one would attack me on account of my size, but my son running unaccompanied could be irresisable. this is the very reason that i haven't had him in the woods yet. before now i had no verbal control over him. he wouldn't stop when i told him to. now he is much better and will stop when i tell him and he'll stay close. JohnRich 4 #10 June 22, 2006 Beautiful scenery! Where is this? That looks like the Grand Tetons! No, I ain't talking about the mountains - I'm talking about your wife. The little fellar riding on your back has got it made. In that last photo, it looks like you have a budding rock climber. Great photos. Nice family. Good adventure. TrophyHusband 0 #11 June 22, 2006 its in the owyhee mountains in southern idaho. one of the reasons i picked that campsite is because my son likes to climb and that was a reasonably safe place for him to do some scrambling. TrophyHusband 0 #13 June 23, 2006 i haven't been over that way yet, but i intend to get over in that region at least once this summer. i've been in idaho for a year and feel like i haven't seen very much at all. i think you could spend a lifetime exploring this state and still find something new every day. steelyeye 0 #14 June 23, 2006 Nothing like being able to hop on a mountain bike in the middle of the summer and be on top of a snow covered mountain or out on the high desert within half an hour! Also spent a lot of time up towards Missoula. Craters of the Moon is also a must see in that part of the state! "Better a has-been than a never-was. Better a never-was than a never-tried-to-be..." TrophyHusband 0 #24 June 23, 2006 not a day goes by that we don't realize how fortunate we really are. weekends like that are few and far between though since my wife (jumpdoc) has to work so damn much. i take my boys to do things all the time, but its a special treat when we get to take mommy. JohnRich 4 #25 June 23, 2006 Quoteone of the reasons i picked that campsite is because my son likes to climb and that was a reasonably safe place for him to do some scrambling. Good deal. You've got to watch 'em with something new like that, because they haven't necessarily learned fear yet, and how to be careful and not take chances.
