skybytch 273 #1 June 28, 2006 Whoa. When I got the confirmation a couple weeks ago, July 2nd sounded so far away. All of a sudden it's only five more sleeps and I'm leaving on a jet plane. Scratch that - three jet planes. One from Sacramento to Seattle... another from Seattle to Anchorage... and another from Anchorage to Valdez. Then I'll make my way from the airport to the docks and find the F/V Kendal, which will be home for a week of (commercial) fishing on the Prince William Sound. So anyway, I need help packing. What items would you be sure to take along? I've already been told to buy the bottle for the Captain and one of those super stylish rubber fishermens hats when I get to Valdez. But what else other than clothes and bathroom stuff might I need???

skybytch 273 #6 June 28, 2006 Quote fishing pole They use nets. Big honkin' nets that dump the fish on top of the heads of the crew. Thus the need for a stylish rubber fishermens hat.
yamtx73 0 #7 June 28, 2006 Warm clothes, good work gloves (several pair), foul weather gear, enough cigarettes to last twice as long as you think you'll need...did I mention warm clothes? Forget the life jacket, as cold as the water will be if you fall in you'll either drown or die of hypothermia before they could pull you back up on the deck...The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers... NWFlyer 2 #9 June 28, 2006 Quote One from Sacramento to Seattle... another from Seattle to Anchorage... Are you gonna be in Seattle long enough to leave the airport? If so, you need to pack some special "take the bytch out on the town and get her into trouble" clothes."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Johnsisland 0 #18 June 30, 2006 QuoteDramamine...LOTS of it. I' vote for the patch. Never needed one on a boat, but jumping out of planes, well I like my patch. I can't figure it out, wish I could. But the patch, I'd take that over the tablets any day. JArch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
