turtlespeed 226 #1 June 30, 2006 . . . Oysters? I always thought that Sweetbreads were sheep balls - but after a little research - (thank you Google) - I find out that sweetbreads are the thymus gland and are very tender.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

MF42 0 #3 June 30, 2006 Of that list, I've eaten fried squirrel brains and buffalo tongue. The brains were almost tasteless, and I didn't see the point of bothering to crack the skull open for so little reward. Maybe they weren't prepared properly. Had a sliced buffalo tongue sandwich at a pow-wow, and found the meat to be wonderfully tender and flavorful. Matt

lawrocket 3 #8 June 30, 2006 One of the things I miss about living in Los Angeles is beign able to go to some hole-in-the-wall taco/burrito joint for some real Mexican food. Once they realized that I wasn't FBI, they'd help me out. When looking for an authetic Mexican food place, the following should be: 1) Carne Asada 2) Carnitas 3) Al Pastor 4) Lengua 5) Cabeza 6) Sesos 7) Tripas 8) Huevos del toro Now, not being a spanish speaker, I've tried many of them. Al pastor dominated for it's sheer flavor. Lengua was exceptionally tender, and Cabeza was tender, too. Tripas were easily identifiable, and are liek the meat version of tofu - it just sucks up the flavor of whatever it was cooked in. Sesos, on the other hand, I ain't trying. I saw what it was. While I understand it used to be popular in sandwiches in the midwest in the early part of the 1900s, I still couldn't do it. Nor could I stomach the thought of the testicles. Though I hear that they are excellent, I will take people's word for it. My wife is hotter than your wife.
