FlyingJ 0 #26 June 27, 2006 Mid-eighties - people would climb up, drop their drawers and jump in after them. I was in elementary school then so it was always funny to see the parents try to rush us past that point. A few years later they started patrolling that area a lot more and ticketing people.Killing threads since 2004.
Jaden 0 #27 June 28, 2006 Very cool. I'm a child of the eighties myself. I can't wait to go home & shoot the hooch. It is exceptionally beautiful in the Fall. Just stay out of the water for a while. And have a good one! -Mel

bmcd308 0 #29 June 28, 2006 You can head north to the Ocoee, which is near my home town of Chattanooga. Depending on where you are in ATL, that might be more than 3 hours. Maybe a little shorter is the Chattooga. Google "Nantahala Outdoors Center" which runs rafts on several rivers in the area. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

FlyingJ 0 #31 June 28, 2006 QuoteYou didn't read the responses, did you? Whooo-pish! (that's supposed to be a whipping sound) Thanks for the suggestions everyone. We'll be doing the combo trip on the Ocoee and I'm really looking forward to. It's an incredibly random cross section of my family going so it should be an amazing time. I think we'll be filling a little over half of two rafts, something like that. I feel bad for those folks that will be joining my family in the boats! I have a deliciously demented family, so it should be fun.Killing threads since 2004.

FlyingJ 0 #35 July 2, 2006 The rafting trip wasn't quite the intense rush I expected, but it was an absolutely amazing time, and certainly not the last time I'll be doing that. We did end up using NOC and did the Combo trip of the Upper (including the Olympic course) and Middle sections of the Ocoee. A couple pics attached. Of course we had to geek the camera at least once! If anyone uses NOC, Isaac was a fantastic guide - highly recommended.Killing threads since 2004.
