F-111 to ZP conversion

Recommended Posts

Looking for what a 370 s.f. 7-Cell F-111 would be comparable in a 7-Cell ZP (PD Navigator). Jumper exit weight is 300.

Thanks!

Hey,

this is not quite the answer you're after, but: The Navigator is a hybrid 9-cell rather than an all-ZP 7-cell... do you have a specific canopy in mind?

It's not about the main, it's about the reserve.
Does it have to be a 7 Cell ZP, rather than a 9 cell?
How many jumps does he have?
If you're looking for something comprable to a HALO rig, Depending on the person's experience, W/L, etc.,,,
You could get by with a Rig that's TSO'd at 300#
A Manta 288 ZP (9 Cell) Square
A PD 281 Reserve.

Send me a PM with phone numbe to discuss....

At 300 pound (exit weight) you are pushing the upper edge of the envelope (for solo reserves) and entering the envelope for tandem reserves.

For example, PR281 is the only Performance Designs solo reserve certified for a 300 pound exit weight.
Similarly, only the two largest sizes 268 and 288 are the only sizes of R-Max reserves (built by Precision) that are certified for 300 pounds.
Similarly, Smart 250 is the only Aerodyne reserve certified for 300 pounds.

The majority of solo reserves are 7-cells made of F-111 fabric. Most reserve have 7-cells, because that configuration has the most predictable openings.

When you exceed 300 pounds, you get into the range of tandem reserves (360 to 500 square feet) which have 9-cells, but are still made of F-111 fabric. Nine cells, because tandem reserves are so huge/wide that it is difficult to find fabric wide enough.

Military freefall (HALO) and HAHO reserves blur the distinction between solo and tandem because - by the time you strap on a 100 pound rucksack - you enter the same weight range as civilian tandems.
