I've eaten all the other critters, my microbe is long, hairy, and well fed, I've descended to the lowest level and climbed back up to the top. What now? Does this game end? At the bottom level there's a creature like you. When you kill him one of the microbes he releases has a yellow nucleus. When you eat it, the game goes into auto mode and then you get forced back to the top where you get to start over, this time as one of those orbiting things with the kind of t-shaped centers that was kicking your ass the first time through. Also, the background color turns to yellow instead of blue. Not sure how to intentionally do the "orange-attacking", "light blue-phase out" thing with this creature yet.
