TrophyHusband 0 #1 July 18, 2006 Mount St. Helens, closed to climbers since the volcano grew active in September 2004, will be opened to climbers again July 21, the U.S. Forest Service announced Friday. The slow-motion eruption of a semi-solid magma, akin to toothpaste coming out the top of the tube, is visible from the rim of the crater. Entering the crater is prohibited. Officials say that the system to award permits and hold reservations will be combined when climbing reopens. More details will be available Thursday, the Forest Service said. On Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported that growth of the new lava dome inside the crater continues. i bought two climbing permits for august 6. i've asked a friend to come with me but he may not be able to get the time off work. there are no more permits available for weekends this summer. if anyone wants this permit if my friend can't come, let me know. Also, the following weekend i'm climbing mt adams. anyone is welcome to join that climb. spoogela 0 #3 July 18, 2006 Don't go with the trophy husband. You have to carry your waste out on the Mt. Adams trip and you don't want to be around for that smell.
