So back to the question at hand. What's the dealio with the whole alcohol vs full nudity in California?

Suprisingly, I know this answer.... :|

The issue is freedom of speech. There have been suits in several states over the states restricting nudity in clubs. The general finding has been that nude performance cannot be outright banned because it is protected under the constitution. However, it's been found in several cases setting precedent that liquor control authorities and the granting of liquor licenses is a privelage, not a protected right. So they can refuse to grant a liquor license based on an establishment providing nude entertainment. Also, local municpalities can do the same.

Basically it comes down to, go ahead and have a nude bar if you want since we can't stop you. But if you do, we're not giving you a liquor license.

Ohio is the same way. Can't be totally nude and serve alcohol. I think it is in place for the dancers and security more than anything. Some clubs that are totally nude are contact clubs, dancers can be touched from the waist up. This might get out of hand if patrons are drinking and they may violate the dancers.

I doubt they would take their thong off instead of their top for the same reasons above.

Seems like it would be more fun but as a former dancer I know I like the rules just the way they are.

Ok now we're getting somewhere.

So why the stipulation between full nude and just topless?

It's all about the genitalia. Most of the regulations specify that, some go a little further. Like in PA, they have to wear pasties over their nipples. It's basically up to the liquor control authorities to regulate, and it's however they word the regulation. Most just say, genitalia must be covered. Some add pasties. And some, like Jersey, say the breast from the top of the areola down must be covered.

In addition, they also add restriction on activities, like, no simulated masturbation, no physical contact, etc.

Would someone please explain to me why strippers can't be fully nude in California strip clubs if they serve alcohol? Also if a stripper can't be fully nude can they keep their top on and remove the thong in stead of keeping the thong on and being topless? Seems that would be more fun.

Just wondering.

I solve this problem by taking my pants off when I get drunk.

It's the California Alcohol Control Board. They've got their own regulations about what is contrary to public morals. If you want to sell alcohol, you've got to fall under the ABC and accept its rules against exposing the pubis, anus, vulva and genitals.

If you don't sell alcohol, you don't have to follow ABC's rules, and you can let the place go fully nude. It also means that 18 year-olds can get into full nude places, but not the less-nasty places.

PK's got it pretty good. It's not a difference between full nude and topless, its a difference between who's regulating you. ABC's standards are more puritanical.

Ok I get it.

So the best thing to do is just get really drunk before you go. Then spend $8 for a soda, sit back and enjoy!

Or, you could go to vegas..

But, the real question here is what is it that you want when you go?:) *since you are so disappointed*

It's the same here in TX. Totally nude clubs can't serve alcohol but you can bring in anything you want.:S

I've been to many a bachelor party at all nude clubs. Actually if you're going to go for the nudity, bringing your own is way cheaper then buying from the bar. Down here in Houston we're really close to the gulf so offshore fishing is a big thing. If you're an outdoors type person you know at least one or two offshore fishermen. These people (like myself) have very large 120gal to 200gal ice coolers. Just think about the amount of beer you can load into 2 120gal coolers :)

Now if you're going for quality, then the regular topless bars normally have the better looking women. They can make alot more money in a controled enviroment along with usualy better security.

I know I didn't answer your question Shannon, but I had to post something in a thread where there was talk of nekkid women :)

Aren't they all BYOB? The fully nude strip clubs in TX are, and I'm thinking all of the ones along Sunset Strip are too (like I can remember any of the nights I've spent on Sunset Strip!) It seems that BYOB is better for the customer anyway because then you don't have to spend $10+ for every watered-down drink you order.

State law says no full nudity in a place with a liquor licence. In places that serve liquor a g-string or some such is the minimum "costume".

At least that's what I was told when I was working as a strip club DJ.B| I'd rather be able to have a drink and see a hot betty in a g-string, than pay 7 bucks for a glass of OJ and "see everything".
