selbbub78 0 #1 July 20, 2006 Hey, anyone that's been to or lives there, what's there to do on vacation out there? I'm looking at planning a vacation for my mom for a few weeks, and trying to find 'hawaiian' things to do. What did/do you do that you enjoy? any ideas appreciated!!! monkycndo 0 #2 July 20, 2006 My preference is the big island. And this guide book is the best I found. It tells about the cool local stuff/food/guides/hotels and even the best days to visit. It made my time there a lot more enjoyable than if I tried to plan without it. They also have books for the other islands. Make sure she takes lots of pictures to share with us.50 donations so far. TheBachelor 5 #3 July 20, 2006 I've been to Maui a couple of times, and to Oahu and the big island once each. Oahu feels like Los Angeles to me. There are skyscrapers, traffic, etc. The big island (Hawaii) is very different on its two sides. Kona is more dry, while Hilo is more tropical. Maui is very laid back. There isn't much traffic, and other than restaurants, there isn't much open late. I'm headed back to Maui at the end of August. All islands have good snorkeling and scuba. If you want to be touristy, you can go to a luau (never done it myself). All islands offer great scenery, and quite a few places for walking/hiking or bike riding. Decide on an island, and then do some internet searches -- you'll find tons of things to do.There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... crotalus01 0 #6 July 20, 2006 Big Island is awesomw but no skydiving. Lots of KavaKava though In Honolulu go to the north shore to Skydive Hawaii - AWESOME views in freefall but better be a good canopy pilot as the landing area is damn tight (outs are the polo field which is pretty wide open - ask for an airael photo before you jump). avoid Waikiki at all costs (or at least spending significant money or time there - okay, the Japanese chicks are pretty hot just dont get screwed like a tourist would). Have fun. personalli, I ddint care so much for Hawaii As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

My brother and I have decided to take her there for her christmas/birthday combo gift. She's always talked about wanting to go there, thus the reason for Hawaii. Unfortunatly, she doesn't jump, but doesn't mean that I won't be able to CReW Skies,"Women fake orgasms - men fake whole relationships" – Sharon Stone "The world is my dropzone" (wise crewdog quote) "The light dims, until full darkness pierces into the world."-KDM
Buried 0 #9 July 21, 2006 i was in oahu and kauai about a month ago. Kauai is awesome and would love to have done scuba off the coast. great hikes and beaches there. you can drive the island and see the sights in 2 days (one day the N road and the other day the south coast) waikiki wasn't that great imo since it is very touristy. go the the east coast or the north for some fun (snorkeling/ scuba, kayaking, cliff diving off of islands, jetskiing). there isn't much to be seen on the west coast... the entire drive starting through the center of the island isn't really that long.. maybe 4 hours. Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?
