What did you do as a kid...

Recommended Posts

...that your folks have never let you forget?

I was 4 and we were on a road-trip. It was getting late and my folks pulled off to check out a hotel on the American River in Cali. They went to check in, leaving my sister and I in the truck.

Sitting in the driver's seat, I reached down and released the brake. We started rolling down the parking lot, towards the hotel where my parents watched in horror :o. We went under the hotel and one of the support stilts kept us from going off a cliff.

I remember my sister's horrified screams as I looked at the horror on my parents' faces from the office window. My parents ran out and my dad bruised my backside before making the 8 hour drive home.

25 years later, they still remind me of curiousity that almost killed me :|:D.

I was ten and we were at an airshow. My buddy and I were checking out all the military vehicles comprising the local National Guard's static display. We both climbed into the cockpit of an armored personnel carrier. My buddy dared me to push the "start" button, so I did. The engine loudly roared to life and four soldiers instantly appeared outside the cockpit, all of them yelling what the hell and get out of there and don't touch anything and all kinds of shit like that. Kinda scary.

We scrambled outside and bumped into Dad. I think that was the last time he ever spanked me in public before he decided I was getting to big for spankings to be effective anymore.

I still hear about it.:)

I'm not sure you're going to let me forget this either.

My mother was calling my brother in for dinner...I climbed up under her tummy and grasped the window and yelled for him like she did...but I added on

"motherF***ker!! You HEAR me!'.

I was two and it was like one of those scenes where the needle gets ripped off the record and the music stops. (I must note my mother was a TOTAL lady and would never use that sort of language so she was mortified at the way neighbors looked at me from that moment on)

The babysitter was fired immediately. And I'm still on probation.~~April

My brother was tormenting me... as usual... so I picked up one of my Father's work boots and threw it at him. He had the gall to duck, and it went through a window. :o

It's wasn't my fault... :| He shouldn't have ducked... >:( I got spanked for it... [:/] Oh, the injustice in the world... :(

...that your folks have never let you forget

Well, there was the time where the Coast Guard and all the Life guards got called in to find me when I went down the beach to have lunch with some strangers...I was two.

Or, the time I didn't pay a speeding ticket and the cop showed up at the door. I was away at camp, and got an "emergency" call there. Dad asked me what the hell was I driving, and I told him "my bike." Dad went into the court the next day, and paid the ticket...and took it out of my hide when I came home.

Those are just two of many times I was indeed a trial to my parents...and they don't let me forget it. I've been forgiven, but it's not ever been forgotten.

Oh, well, I wasn't really a kid, but there was the time I called my dad to ask for bail money.

Conversation went sort of like this.

"Dad, I'm in jail"
"How fast were you going?"
"Huh?"
"How fast"
"145..."
"You can stay for 24 hours."

It worked, haven't done any speeding since :D

Haven't done, actually. With a few small exceptions, of course, I'll usually hammer it to pass someone, just because I want to minimize the time I'm in their blind spot.

Well the closet door opened and there stood the matriarch of the Times aghast, while we had our pants down....AWKWARD

well I don't know if this actually qualifies... but I sometimes believe that my parents just kind of didn't care about me a whole lot (I was the middle child... and the "younger son" to boot so you can understand why the would feel that way)... :o not only that I have proof...

when I was about 6-7 we (the family) had gone to a party at some of my parents friends... we got home rather lat that night... 12 AM or so (as I recall) and all three of us kids had fallen asleep in our seats... well when we got home the parents woke us up to go inside... me being especially tired from playing all day... managed to fall back asleep and everyone else went inside and went to bed... :D leaving me in the van...

well, I woke up about 2-3 hrs later and tried to go inside only to find that my dad had locked up... :S welll I rang the door bell and was greeted by my dad who had come out on the balcony to see what was up... and also wondering what I was doing outside at 3 AM... :D

like I said I was never very important to them... :D

When I was a child, I thought like a child....

As I grew up... absolutely nothing changed....... but my toys became more expensive.

.

that pretty much sums me up.

You hear about people paying $$ to go to bullshit new-age seminars to learn to get in touch with their "inner child."

:S
What a crock of shit. I need a seminar to figure out how to keep up this "outer adult" facade!!:D

am I alone here?

Does anyone else here feel like an impostor when other people seem to think you're actually a grown-up??
