Vertifly 0 #1 July 3, 2007 Can any riggers (or sewing specialists) tell me if drag can be added to a freefly suit fairly easily? I'm thinking of adding material by the very lower legs and forearms.
PhreeZone 20 #2 July 3, 2007 If you want to its possible to add a layer of a material like denim or a heavy polycotton to the inside of the suit and it will not alter the appearence of the suit but will add a lot of stiffness and there for drag to a suit provided it is loose enough to put another layer of material on it.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skybytch 273 #3 July 3, 2007 I have a pair of slip on sleeves for RW that add drag on the forearm; I know of at least one freeflier who has the same thing for his freefly suit. They are available through Flite Suit and other jumpsuit manufacturers - but they really aren't all that hard to cut or make; the only tough part might be the cuffs at the top and bottom. Don't see a reason why the same concept couldn't be applied to the lower legs of any suit, but it might take some trial and error to come up with something that will stay put. Big advantage to slip ons over permanent additions would be removability - you end up with the equivalent of two suits for way less money.
