ntrprnr 0 #1 July 26, 2006 Walk into the New Balance store today. "Hi, I'd like a pair of the 765's, size 14, EEE, please." "Oh, the 765 was replaced by the 766." "But the 765 had the PERFECT arch support for my runs." "Yes, but the 766 is improved." "How?" "It provides more arch support!" "But that, for me, would be too much arch support." "Oh. Well, perhaps you'd like the 767's?" "The 767's? You jusyt tried to sell me the 766's." "Yes, well the 767's have a little less arch support than the 766's." "But more than the 765's?" "Yes." "And you're no longer selling the 765's?" "No." "Can I get them online?" "Yeah, you should try eBay. People buy them and then resell them once we stop making them." "So I can go online and buy sneakers that are more expensive because you've made better sneakers here except they don't fit me." "Pretty much, yeah." "OK. Thanks." Why does New Balance do this? What financial gain is there to stopping one line when you introduce the next? ESPECIALLY with New Balance - We're the most rabid and loyal fan base this side of Macintosh computers. It's very frustrating. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Icon134 0 #7 July 27, 2006 Or Ascics... there sometimes are logical reasons for minor design changes... its possible that they got feedback from sponsored professional atheletes that felt the 765 could stand to have a bit more arch support... thus the modified them creating the birth of the 766... our it could just be they had a created a new process that cost less but ultimately caused the shoes overall performance to change... there could be many reasons... oh and... this is a good place to locate closeouts http://www.sierratradingpost.com/Shoes-and-Boots.html unfortunately they don't appear to have your shoes but sometimes you get lucky... and to boot they're usually 30-70% off retail...
