Landis Tests Positive

Ok, so his sample tested positive for high levels of testosterone, but not for any actual drugs, and he's now having his second sample tested to try to rule out a bad test.

So what can they prove with that?

I'll repeat what I said in the SC thread, many (perhaps even most) forms of doping involve adding to substances already present in the body - transfusions to increase red blood cell count, Human Growth Hormone, testosterone, EPO - the list is long and ever increasing.

Sufficiently increased levels of any of these substances would be treated as proof that the rider has been doping.

There is a B sample that is probably being tested as we speak to rule out faulty testing of the first sample. If the B sample comes back with the same results then Landis will be kicked out of his team and will face a two year ban from pro cycling and possible criminal charges.
