MF42 0 #6 July 26, 2006 I've played with some cheapo swords, and they're fun, but they don't interest me like a good knife. Such a versatile tool, useful in thousands of ways, and the best look beautiful too. They're jewelry for men. Matt
livendive 8 #7 July 26, 2006 Whatever that weblink is, it's blocked from me at work. Assuming it's actually about knives, here's my sunday-go-to-meetin' pocket knife. Handmade, ivory handled, damascus blade...it's pretty. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
MF42 0 #8 July 26, 2006 Looks nice. I'm personally not a fan of ivory or wooden handle material, but that damascus is beautiful and I like the general shape. I'm envious; never yet owned a handmade. I don't know why the site is blocked. Those knives aren't even tactical style. They're just very nice looking general use pocketknives. Matt

MF42 0 #12 July 26, 2006 Sorry, don't know. I gotta admit to not knowing much at all about historical/collectible knives. I just like a well made, general use everyday pocketknife. Matt
Deuce 1 #13 July 26, 2006 It's a Walter Brend custom automatic. It was mostly legal (depending on who you talked to) for me to carry when I was in uniform, I haven't had it out in ages. I suspect it's pretty collectable, since I can't find any info on it.

I have to reduce the quality of the picture to make it fit as an attachment. The USMC NCO sword was earned (not purchased).Skymama stalker #69!!!! AggieDave 6 #15 July 27, 2006 Those are nice, but I definately prefer Emerson, Hide Away Knives and Spyderco personally.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

warpedskydiver 0 #18 July 27, 2006 I had a friend whos father brought home a real Samurai sword back in 1945, a few years back he died, and they did a remarkable thing, they tracked down the family decendants of the deceased officer it belonged to, and returned it in person in Japan. The family was very grateful and said they feel a weight had been lifted from their shoulders as they no longer have to live without honor. (the sword was kept in perfect condition and had been given quite a bit of reverance.)
MF42 0 #19 July 27, 2006 I've got a few Benchmade that have seen hard use and keep tickin'.Spyderco...lots of people like them, but I just think they're inexcusably ugly. Matt
AggieDave 6 #20 July 27, 2006 http://www.hideawayknife.com/main.php That's my next knife. One of the best ideas since Emerson defined the combat folder.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
MF42 0 #21 July 27, 2006 I've seen those advertised before, and it looks like an excellent design; strong, simple, and effective. But I don't know nothin' about self-defense knives. Matt
AggieDave 6 #22 July 27, 2006 Quote I've seen those advertised before, and it looks like an excellent design; strong, simple, and effective. Yeah, I've been drooling over those since the March 2005 issue of Handgunner came to my doorstep. The problem is they are expensive, but so is the rest of everything else in our lives. I need to just suck it up and order one (or two) of them.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
